Good luck with it!

So, you can get more than 64 people in a party, we had 69 (nice) i think. We attempted to party join a server nothing happened.

You can party join with 50 people and get your own private party server.

It looks like this:

Yay! Progress!

Now if there was only something for all those players to do rather than stand around posing!

Wonder how long before someone starts claiming this has never been done before in a game :p

For those that were concerned about a party cap of 8....

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/...r-citizen-alpha-3-2-0l-ptu-793226-patch-notes

More than you can fit in a server. :) :)

And I don't know where they came up with the 8 number. Was in a party of 15 last night before this patch dropped.

CIG came up with the 8 number as i recall. Disco said it I think.

As for more than you can fit in a server..... yeah, whatever happened to thousand people instances?

What are you talking about? We all got into a space ship that spun out of control right off the landing pad. What more could you ask for? :)

A sub set did do multicrew "dog fighting". I think it was 5 Constellations fighting using only their turrets. Although turret game play is still pretty underwhelming. Especially if you are in the lower turret on the Connie.

Oh, and we tried to do a big group quantum jump. But it is too buggy and doesn't really work.

Yeah, I'm not sure where CIG came up with 8 person limit for a party. It hasn't been like that a few times in the past where i've been in pretty big parties. It didn't work how they thought it worked.

And "number of people per server" is a topic I tend to avoid with SC people because I don't think they understand how it will actually work....

You don't balance servers per people :D

It sounds like a nice idea - but it's the absolutely complete worst "solution" possible. You don't even balance servers by "load" - as that is the second worst "solution" possible.

Hey we should applaud progress. I recall when "the other game" broke through the supposed 32? ship instance limit on the Distant Worlds expedition.

This idea about clogging up the network by running batch processes to check on flight inputs from joysticks or whatever is going on, sounds somewhere between: par for the course, hilarious and terrifying.

Nice to see progress. Though I already see so much people on a ship as a potential source of chore and unvolontary griefing for any mundane tasks like taking an elevator.

"Oh woah we're so much in there! Hey buds let's pretend having a drink... Ok, now let's go to the command room, hey Kev' please let me take the elevator first! Hey Marco please move the way so I can go through this door! Hey Lucinda, you forgot to close the cargo bay, enemies are in! Ok, time to sit and pilot this ship at long las----- You've been killed by *$MarvinGoon$*"

I also wonder why nobody took control of the ship and went to a moon with everyone on board.

It was always claimed that "optimization" would happen at the end of the development cycle so abhorrent performance and bugs were laughed off. Now that performance actually gets better I would be very worried (as a whale) because this indicates that CiG is "done" with Star Citizen in its current form and tries to push it out the door? Just a thought because I m cruel like that :)

I think it's more that they NEED better performance before they can add more entities and stuff in the game.

I mean, imagine Hurston, not a moon, a PLANET with a giant city and will require a lot of NPC activity to look even remotely alive.

Without optimization that planet will be a problem.

Star Citizen needs a lot of stuff. When in the last 7 years has CiG done anything that needed to be done? I mean according to regular development practices? And its progress rate has suffered for all those decisions. On the other hand CiG has done absolutely required things a couple of times when it saw its own survival threatened. Backer uprising in 2016 leading to the development schedule publishing. Before that generally allowing refunds after they got legal attention when several whales jumped ship. So is this really a sign that CiG "finally woke up" and does things that needs to be done for the good of the game? Or is it just another one of those things where they do what they need to do in order to keep going?

Sure its my own view on this mess but I generally get the impression that CiG is running out of money. People still try to refund, the rate of incoming new blood cannot be enough to counter that loss or give em a positive drift. Despite its praise of "most transparent development evah" we have no idea if CiG is taking on investors or is still running on private money only. But the slowing down of progress rate (yes, even more then usual) and their sudden focus on things that were deemed unimportant the first 4-5 years gives me the feeling we are looking at CiGs "endgame" regarding Star Citizen and they are trying to accomplish that much-dreaded MVP in order to get into the clear.

Look, 64+ player fights might have been the thing that games did back in 2003, but that doesn't count because by then, Chris had been thrown out of the industry due to his mismanagement, bad planning, money-wasting wannabe filmmaker habits, and inability to deliver, so it never actually happened.

Also, giggle (not entirely topical, but the casual mention and the links are funny): https://robotrabbi.com/2018/06/25/bubble/

It's on topic. Direct quote from the linked article: "However, Mollick’s research was conducted before such high-profile fraud cases as the $179 million campaign by Star Citizen, $35 million scam by Lily Drone, $17 million by Elio Motors Scooter, and Coolest Cooler’s $13 million fiasco." End quote.

Shots fired.

Person alleging to have made over 200 SC videos and spending over $10,000 and maintaining both a $20 subscription and a $10 subscription seeks a refund. https://reddit.com/r/starcitizen_refunds/comments/8u4isw/ok_i_think_it_is_time_i_ask_for_a_refund/

....which lead me to unsub the $30/mo I was funding for the last few years. Yeah, $7K on one of my accounts, total I have funded is actually over $10K when I add my son's account in too, which I don't miss it was just beer and sushi money spent, so no concern on my part over that.

LOL, just beer and sushi money, no big deal...

This backer is too late. Since "3.0" Refunds have been shut down and his over 10 grand are already gone. He is going to enjoy the ride to the bitter end with alpha servers being shut off and no game released.

He is ready to sue, but civil lawsuits are pretty useless against insolvent shell firms. Maybe we will see him giving testimonials in the upcoming TV documentaries about crowd funding scams.
