Alien archaeology and other mysteries: Breaking News, Theories and Tinfoil Hattery

Have the Thargoids infected humanity? Read Galnet as the cult hive is coral and black substance and reeks of ammonia, the cultists themselfs are unwell looking............Is this the start of a recoil of mycoid? or are they implanted humans from those escape pods taken....

If only they were a faction we could go to in game:(

This is what I don't get about Galnet posts. Quite often when some little mysterious thread is started there is literally no way to interact with it. So what's the point?
My pessimistic take is that there actually isn't anything to find ever with these articles, and that we're just doing a bunch of tail-chasing to occupy ourselves.

My not-pessimistic take is that there is something, but it's so obscure/rare that there might as well be nothing in the game. Take, for example, this galnet article. Nobody ever saw any ships with those sorts of designations anywhere near Obsidian Orbital. Eventually, we got unregistered comms beacons cropping up. For the most part, these led to static instances of common USS sites. However, the Nommai 4 comms beacon led to a beacon containing ships with similar designations and holding meta alloys/unknown artefacts.

For that to "fit the mold" of static USS instances, that suggests to me there was a USS we were supposed to find somewhere, somehow, which contained convoys of ships carrying UAs/MAs. We know FD can control where certain USS spawn with how Thargoids and the "UA Shell" related USS would spawn. Unfortunately, where we were supposed to find those convoys was such a mystery, wrapped in an enigma, wrapped in bacon, that we never found it.

... which is as good as not putting it in the game.

Has this always been there?

Iam fairly new to the game and just wondering has there always been that little galaxy far away from ours on the map? The shape of it looks just like the inner markings on the Thargoids and on the barnicals.

A picture would help but the only thing with that kind of shape is the LMC or Large Magellanic Cloud, a dwarf galaxy that orbits the Milkyway. Its apparent size is quite large though so not sure if this what you mean. It has always been there in game.

I always thought it looked more like Barnard's Loop, which ties in to the whole permit stuff in that region.

I also tend to apply Occams Razor liberally

Barnard's Loop would certainly make more sense as connection with Thargoids but I'm not sure what Loctite Trixx meant by 'little galaxy' as Barnard's is obviously an nebulae and LMC is quite large.

Yes sorry the LMC just has that shape as on the barnacles, but as for the Thargoids they all diif in shape and patterns and do look like the Barnard's Loop but i guess we will find out once we can get out there and explore.
I would of thought they may of come from a different galaxy far away.. just my tinfoil running :)

I think Galnet has suggested an extragalactic origin for a few times, so I guess it could be read as a hint. Thargoid starmap looks like it could be depicting a two armed spiral galaxy. Not sure what would be implications of that. Those would be huge distances.
I hope Col 70 opens soon.

In one moment of madness, I briefly began to look for locations where the Large Magellanic Cloud, Barnard's Loop, and other features (preferrably with some darkish regions) line up, to observe the concentric-ish patterns produced. :7

Seem to recall it was a view through the Pleiades nebula that set me off, around the time we got Thargoid markings comprising several "rings" -- it wore of quickly, though -- don't have nowhere near that amount of dedication and free time. :7

Maybe not a faction specifically, but there are Elite Ranked Wetwork missions that either lead to a Science Python with strange escort ships and freefloating UA/TS (Only had this happen once) , or Thargoid Worshipers in a wing. I have only found these missions at stations in the Founder's World system, but they may be available elsewhere. If you want to do these mission the Hodack permit is very useful as it has Interstellar Factors very near to Founder's World for wiping the bounties.

Remember when Jaques went missing, he reported that the Artifacts where singing and they came .
Like the religous thargoid npcs talk about they are sining to call to them.... This has been going on a long time remember the old news in the game
Full link to Cly's Imgur here with all the news and such from jaques aka colonia when it was 1st found https://imgur.com/a/5yGaL

So yes colonia was misdirected and placed by Thargoids.

"Colonia factions have started issuing mission tip offs for the region"

Wondering if these might be worth a look at too

This immediately piqued my curiosity, not been to colonia yet but the above does make it somewhat tempting.

Is there something they expected us to find but we didnt so were getting a nudge in that direction?

When i was about to jump out of Pleiades Sector IR-W d1-55 i noted two things. For one there is a location in the navigation panel without an text. Trying to drop into it crashed me to desktop twice. On the other hand there is a new listening post (at least i couldn't find a mention of it). Never noticed it the whole week. I will try to povide more info on both topics later. At least if it is not old news by then.

News on Canonn discord (with info from reddit), a new planet settlement that has a green glow, has been found.
