Elite / Frontier Elite 1 Mission ?

I've recently got back into playing Elite Plus. :eek:

Yes I know point and laugh if you must ! :D

And I remembered a rumour from my youth way back in 1985 ish when I was playing Elite on my C64, I would like it if somebody could confirm, deny or elaborate on this please:

Was there a mission in the first Elite which came up if you played the game for 24 hours (game time) ?

Like I said it was a rumour I never found the answer to.

Only one way to answer that one really. ;)

Let us know how it goes. Doing something non-stop for 24-hours is quite a challenge, but once you get past the first 6 or 7 hours it becomes easy.

I once spun a Powerball for 24-hours non-stop! :D

I've been playing Elite Plus for a bit now and thought i'd give you an update.

I think that there have been some missions added to Elite Plus that were not in the C64 version I remember playing.

You all probably know of the offer to buy a Tribble but what about a sun going supernova? Say yes to that and you'll lose all your cargo you're trading at that moment.

I've been pulled into witch space a few times (and survived on one occasion) and seen Thargoids in systems, even safe Democratic systems.

I'm currently in Galaxy 2 because I was in an Anarchic system about to die and my last resort was my galatic drive. I plan to jump through all the galaxies back to Galaxy 1 and visit every system out there.

My rating is currently Deadly (thanks to the Thargoids pulling me into witch space and surviving). my method of killing is to use a rear mounted laser and wait for attacking ships to track into the cross hairs. (worked great in witch space !)

I wonder if going back to playing this will improve how I play FFE ? Time will tell.

As for getting a mission after 24 hours game time ? I still don't know if it existed in the original releases of Elite but there seem to be plenty in Elite Plus.

That's all for now, I'll update this again if anything else interesting happens or if any of you are interested.

Yeah I love Oolite, it's better than Elite Plus, but my steam powered pc doesn't have enough memory to play most things and Oolite does not play smooth enough.

Press key for 30 secs wait for response press key to move in opposite direction for 30 secs wait for response.......You get the idea.

Oolite is a great game to play, the add-ons make it a lot of fun as well especially the casino...:D

I'm sure I remember the Sun going nova mission in Elite, (though I guess it might've been Elite+ I was playing.)

I also quite liked ending up in Witch Space as it meant wonders for my kill-rating...lots of Thargoids, (and Thargons? They were in Elite weren't they?), to dessimate! I always used to take my time and wait for the Thargons to be released, otherwise it was too easy. The rear-mounted laser took a while to get used to at first, but soon became my cowardly weapon of choice!
