Stuttering after new update

Hi,

Is anyone else seeing a change in performance with the CV1 since the new patch? FPS is showing green and locked at 90, however on my rig it definitely doesn't feel as smooth as before. Lowering the graphics settings doesn't seem to make any difference, I don't think my PC is the issue. It's a bit of shame, this rig was running perfectly.

Specs are I7 7700K clocked at 5.1ghz, paired with a 1080TI mildly overclocked.

@MODS, sorry this is supposed to be in the VR section!

Not me either, but I noticed someone else was, who posted on the Oculus forums a few days back and Frontier support chimed in to say submit a ticket.

If you're running the Core 2 stuff, like the personalisable rooms and new VR store, Dash and what have you etc, then yes you are running the beta. Easiest way to check is in the Oculus apps desktop screen, in the settings and then the beta tab.

No they have separated dash from beta for awhile now, since like just after new years.
You are perfectly able to use dash and remain on stable, they have simply left the old interface as the default for those without the touch controllers or for preference.

But if you have touch controllers there is no reason not to use dash.

Non beta ie no dash will run better for sure

I'll try disabling the beta. Out of curiosity, what nivida drivers are 1080TI cmdrs using at the moment? I upgraded to the latest ones (due to the performance issues) No improvement.

Am certain it has to be the game, my FPS is locked at 90FPS (as it has always been)

Yeah, so do I. GTX 1070, WIN 10, Oculus Beta 1.28.0.624751 (2.0 features disabled), NVidia 398.36. Was much better before...

Try solo mode. Could be data related.

Wish it was that simple, definitely not mode related. I have been in solo testing the Krait. But yeah, I mainly fly in open and I will get the occasional stutter at busy stations, something that has been around since Gamma.

About to try the 398.11 drivers, see if that makes a difference, those where very smooth drivers.

I have the same setup as you 7700k and 1080ti. I am using 397.64 drivers and played several hours last night in open. No issues at all.

Hi 777,

Just my t'pennth worth.....Not seeing any issues at all since the upgrade last week. Mind you about 2 months ago i wiped my Hard Drive and reinstalled everything from scratch as i was getting horrible stutters, missed frames, slow downs.

This new re-install, i have cut out all the Biowaste and just have ED on, ED Engineer, Voice Attack, Oculus Rift and EDDI on. The experience was markedly noticeable, and i would recommend this course of action for anyone having issue.

MAKE BACKUPS OF EVERYTHING ED RELATED before doing a wipe and reinstall, this will make getting backup and running easier and a whole lot quicker.

Thanks WAsp0, yeah this PC is just for ED and a few other titles, I have a separate PC for everything else. Anyway think I have sorted it, rolled back to drivers 398.11 and everything is smooth (my 1080 seems to be very picky about drivers) Also think the Krait is slightly more taxing than any other ship in VR, been trucking again in the T9, smooth as silk, in the Krait I get a few stutters.

@Worminator - Might also give your drivers a try, older ones seem to work better with the 1080TI (in my experience) it was Oculus that forced me to move to newer drivers.

Thanks for the help everyone.
