Nice 4-year-old logic.

Right, like how you're expected to pay an entire lifetime of rent in one go, or how the bank wants you to pay your car in one go, or how your employer wants you to do a lifetime of work in a single month... /s

Do you know what an investment is that you never get something back from is called? A SCAM.

Do you really believe That this is a scam?

Here's something interesting:

An LEP isn't an investment it's a gamble.

He's also right about your comparison being ludicrous.

It's getting hard not too.

Well, for one thing at least and as far as I know, FDEV still carries a fraction of the moneys from the LPE pre purchase as a liability in its books. I would need to see the latest update of the annual accounts but if that is still the case it becomes really difficult for FDEV to profit from such a "scam" unless it actually delivers content for it and can transform those liabilities into actual revenue.

On the topic of Expo, the transcript of the launchday livestream was:
  • "Q: Is the Expo on again this year? A: There will be another Expo, we haven't said what the date is, when it will be. They won't be regularly every year, they'll be at the right time."
  • Regularly = "with a constant or definite pattern, especially with the same space between individual items."
Meanwhile, Bo tweeted a few days ago:
  • "That's baiting, we haven't announced anything about FX ;) will be at Pax West and Twitchcon though!"
  • Pax West is 31st Aug to 3rd Sep, one week after Gamescom (FDev have a press-only booth at the latter). TwitchCon is 26th to 28th Oct.
FrontierExpo 2017 was announced the last week of July, with the event held on 7th October.

It's also a little difficult to yell scam years prior to the end of the delivery window.

I've no idea what you're on about here.

Indeed. We know Premium Content is coming in 2018, and we've already had Horizons, so "never" is already nullified assuming you bought the Lifetime Expansion Pass as an "investment".

Found it: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/280009951 Time 36:45

Ed says something like that "...I think [...] David said maybe not this year, but that's something we definitely will do at some point".

I translate it as pretty safe call of not having FX in 2018.

Do you know what an investment is that you never get something back from is called? A SCAM.

Not really. It is called bad investment. Being it a scam is that it was never intended to deliver anything in first place. Which is simply not true in case of LEP for ED.

Actually as I rain on parade quite a bit, I will call this not very clear either. Recently Ed has been asked about premium content and he hasn't been very clear about is it coming in this year, just as "coming".

I've no idea what you're on about here.
If you tell your landlord your rent check is coming over and over for months, you get evicted. If you tell your bank your car payment is coming over and over for months, your car gets repossessed. If you tell your boss your work is coming over and over for months, you get fired.

The best scams give the victim just a little back. This can convince some that it's not a scam, and will draw new victims. ISK doubling scams are common in EVE, they give some people a small amount back, which convinces them go try again with more, then they don't get any back.

Jeez louise some of you guys defending FD with lines like "well you took a risk with the LTP" etc..

No. People. Didn't.

FDev a company based in the UK where UK laws apply They sold "something". They must deliver on that or pay refunds (well unless they want a load of people to take them to the small claims court, again). Since they didn't set a timescale that "something" can be delivered whenever but they have to deliver. Stop arguing against that as you look like corporate shills of the worst kind.

Now FDev could get around it by releasing any old tat and saying they fulfilled their end of the bargain. Doesn't make good business sense to burn some of your biggest fans but FDev have done that before so we'll see.

I technically paid £35 for the LTP so I'm not rioting like I would be if I'd paid £120 like some suckers.....I mean customers paid for it but it's yet another shady action from FDev in a long list of shady actions for those paying attention.

Ten year plan.

I do not recall any statement by FDEV about LPE content linked to any 10 year plan.

FDEV famous 10 year plan mentioned verbally at a Lavecom some time ago is probably no different from the standard long term horizon planning companies (any company) with long cycle times (multi year or so) tend to develop for scope and funding forecast purposes, nothing more nothing less. They are typically updated dynamically as the company goes.
