Noob question regarding delivery missions

Hi Everyone

I have just started doing some missions for rep/ranks, I took a mission last night that requires me to source and deliver 250 units of x, I have a transport ship with 100t or cargo space, Can i not make more than one trip? When i came back with the 100 tons, it showed my a progress bar of how many I intended delivering in relation to the goal, and i was not able to hand these in and make another trip? If i need to deliver it all at once then what is the point of the progress bar, and how is it possible to have the larger missions completed without multiple trips? such as the 5000t + missions?

You can take as many trips as you want to deliver the goods.

Thats what i thought however it is simply not allowing me to deliver the goods, the complete button is red and there is nothing else i can click on besides cancel and me choosing how much cargo to offload.

Is this a bug maybe?

It's not a bug. You need to deliver the items first and the 'complete' button will only show up once you have delivered the required quantity. Until then the button will stay red as you haven't completed the requirements.

ok that makes sense then, where must i deliver them to then? I am not seeing any other options on that mission page, is it a separate menu somewhere where i need to "store" these before i go back to fetch the amount remaining to complete it then?

The game would't allow you accept a mission, if you weren't in a position to complete it

Sorry I did some more reading, i went straight to a system and purchased the commodities from the market, apparently the pickup needs to be done via the mission screen and not through the market, if that is correct then there is where i went wrong. I cant test this out now as I am not at home. But just to add this is a source and return mission, there is no pre defined pick up point.

However i did go through market for another mission requiring a smaller amount that i could do in one trip and i was able to deliver.

The only place to buy commodities for any mission is the commodities market. Once you buy them (wherever, the buying location doesn't matter) then when you take them back to where you got the mission you go to the mission board and 'deliver' there. Once you have filled the quantity needed you can then 'complete' the mission for the rewards.

Hope that helps.

There are two types of missions:
- regular, all in one go
- wing (multiplayer), they have a triangle with dots in the corners on the icon

Regular missions
These you have to complete in one go. So a 120t requirement in a 100t capable mission is a no go - game will show you that mission under "requirements not met" section. There is no possibility for you to accept such a mission if you don't meet the requirements. Other requirement may be ship size. Ex. You could have T-9 transporter, Anaconda, Beluga, Cutter, etc. with enough cargo space for that 120t mission and still be unable to accept because target is an Outpost which accepts small and medium ships ONLY. The ones I mentioned require large landing pad and cannot land on Outposts.

So when you can accept this kind of mission you are given the cargo (or requested to bring X amount) and off you go. If you don't have enough cargo space in your current ship you cannot accept "Supply us/Industry need" type of missions.

Wing
These are aimed for multiplayer (max 4 CMDRs in a wing) type as they require thousands of tones of cargo to be hauled/delivered. These missions are marked on the icon with a triangle. And these missions can be done solo as well - they just take more trips. Ex. 4200t for a wing of 4 Cutters means 2 rounds for each ship and mission is done. Same mission solo in a new Krait (220t) = 20 rounds (rounded up).

As you noted, ALL missions are handed in in the mission board. Commodity market you use for two occasions:
- buy X for "supply us/industry needs"
- buy low and sell high for a profit without any mission accepted - real trading.

For wing missions you can drop any amount you are able to until you meet the requested quota. When you fulfill entire contract (ex. 2500t in your 100t ship), only then you can finish (complete) the mission and get reward.

A warning tho:
- try NOT to loose mission specific cargo in wing type mission. This is the case of delivery missions where you get the stuff to haul. When you loose part you won't be able to complete the mission since you'll be lacking lost amount. You can do partial delivery but the reward will be significantly less and totally not worth the work.

Cheers.

I think your information on regular missions is outdated. They use a depot since 3.1 and can be done in multiple runs.

Apologies if this is stating the bleeding obvious - when you deliver the goods for the source/return missions you have to click the "deliver" button (the bit between the + - buttons) to deliver the goods. Then when you've delivered them all the "complete" button becomes active.

Going to have another look at that this evening, i have been worried i may have missed something obvious

Thanks to everyone who has responded, i will check it out when I am back later and come back to you guys, it is highly possible i have been an idiot and missed some button :D

If I finish a wing mission that rewards 50mil cR but don't turn it in until after I've shared it with a friend, do they get a free 50mil cR for all my work?

I think thats it there, you DO choose how much to offload (ie your 100t) and then you will be able to deliver it. Then go and collect more.

I think?
