No more Low Temp Diamond pirating?

I’ve been hitting the piracy pretty hard this week. It’s been tons of fun and I’ve been making a modest income... but tonight I couldn’t find LTDs anymore. I would scan ships with mining lasers in Agricultural Boom systems, interdict them, manifest scan them, and just find random garbage in their holds. One ship had 8 LTDs, but that was the most I found all night. I interdicted a T9 with several different bits of junk that only totaled about 12 tons of cargo. Why the heck is a T9 running only 12 tons of cargo??

If you blew it up you get min amount of cargo.

Wasn't there meant to be treasure ships or high value targets for pirates in Supercruise added in 3.0?

How did that work out?

The have good stuff in limited counts. The outcome can't beat a T9 full a diamonds yet, and the effort of stealing an Elite military ship vs a mostly harmless t9 is of no comparison.
Since I do piracy for the fun of it and not the pay (as it will never be profitable enough) I'm ok with the additions, others may disagree.

I couldn't login into the game the last two days, too busy partying out and stuff (Running of the bulls here!!) but I'll check my systems for t9 and report back when I have a moment.

Hm... maybe I just don’t know what to look for. It wasn’t biowaste or anything like that. It was stuff that had no “galactic average sell price”. Maybe this stuff is actually good? It certainly caught me by surprise. It was every ship I interdicted too. There was a couple of T7s, a T6 and a T9. Used to be the majority of what they had was LTDs and they would have at least a 3rd or their hood full of them. It was so reliable that I know some CMDRs weren’t even using manifest scanners.

You could certainly make the argument that it was immersion breaking, but it was the only piracy activity that could pay for your time. It also felt like fishing in a way. The T7s were pretty rare, and T9s rarer still. Then finding one with a mining laser... you could be casing a star system for 45 minutes before finding a T9 with a mining laser. You may end up having to settle for a keelback just to make any money, or you may end up with that big haul that makes you 20 million. It was inconsistent in a fun way. Unlike bounty hunting RES where you can basically predict exactly how much you will make in a given amount of time.

The T9 I’m talking about was Elite. Maybe I missed something? Now I feel like an uncultured pirate who didn’t know what I found.

Yu have missed some important stuff:
1) I was not answering to your post, I answered CMDR Ultra about the new piracy ships introduced in beyond (courier services).
2) not all t9 are Elite whereas all courier services (new piracy ships introduced in beyond) are Elite.
3) A full load of a LTD miner is much more profitable than a full load of a new piracy ships introduced in beyond (courier services).
because basically I was talking about the courier services (new ships introduced in beyond) compared to LTD piracy, and not the ship you were pirating.

Don't feel uncultured pirate, I never meant you don't know what you found, but it would be nice if you don't just read in diagonal next time!! ;)

Arrr! I’m just a humble pirate. I don’t read too well. Thanks for clarifying though.

I did another short pirating session this morning and all seems to be back to normal with the LTDs. Not sure if it was the wing that was messing it up? I guess I should also note that last night it was Empire space that I was attempting to pirate in. I don’t know if that makes a difference.

Can I ask, was it the same system? is the system agricultural? other system types (e.g. refinery or industrial) haven the tendency to fill up the miners cargo space with other minerals (cobalt, indium) and not only LTD.

Last night it was Xinca. It’s an agricultural system in boom and it’s Empire space. I tried at least one other system in that neighborhood last night and got the same results. It was also Empire/agricultural/boom.

This morning I jumped back to Gato where I had had success in the past. Gato is independent and has about triple the population of Xinca, but Xinca is still a fairly heavily populated system. None of these systems are anarchy. I find systems with at least some kind of security to be more fun.

I've been doing the LTD piracy for a week or so now and have had no trouble finding any number of ships with full loads of LTDs in Anarchy/Agriculture/Boom systems but since last night I have found the grand total of 2 (yes two!) ships carrying them.

Is this something which FDev nerfs every once in a while or am I just on the most unlucky streak in my life?

I've yet to return to the bubble since the update so haven't checked but in the past BGS state and security level could impact spawns. I also found Antal space bad for business but Grom space always delivered the diamonds.

Now the BGS is much more complex I think there will be many more permutations that will impact NPC cargo.

First:
Private Couriers spawn foremost in "Investment" systems, hence the likelyness of "Pirate attack" along with tons of Transport ships

Second:
LTD piracy is still a thing, just the old parameters got changed.
I tested this in Beta and prior known LTD systems had only low amounts of LTD per ship,
but it seemed parameters got changed, i was able to replicate high yield LTDs in beta in:

Industrial/Refinery Economy
Thoth System

REMINDER, LTD info is from Beta, haven't checked since then.

Happy hunting and keep us informed on your findings!

I'd been doing my pirating in Viracocha and was regularly coming back from a single outing with >300t of LTD. 2 days ago they just suddenly vanished! This wasn't Beta.

There seems to be some issues with the BGS and FDev are tinkering around with it without telling anyone. The only reason I switched to piracy was because all efforts by my squadron to affect influence in our systems seemed to be in vain as the BGS was working totally counter to whatever effort we put in.
