And never forget Italy did not even make it, we finished above Germany, Spain and Brazil (and many others). We did good, but probably (nationally) got a little ahead of ourselves? To try to get revenge over Belgium would be a great way to end

Not sure about it but I've heard Southgate this afternoon say the team has motivation to play tomorrow. A chance to bring a medal back from a World Cup for only the second time, ever.

I was delighted England made the semis - it's a shame the party came grinding to a halt there but the best team in the match on the day won. It's the best tournament performance and team we've had for a long time and it bodes well for the future.
I have no idea whether England and Belgium are really up for a play off - I'm sure their natural competetiveness will ensure they both go for it properly but I'm not sure the outcome matters that much in the context of the competition. Obviously I'd rather England win than lose.
That said the idea of a play off for "bronze" doesn't really make sense to me in a knockout contest. It's not like a race where the finalists run against each other on the same track at the same time. It's not like a league season where everyone plays everyone else twice and there is a genuine incentive for a top four finish (in the Prem).
It's the end of the knockout phase of knockout competition - technically both England and Belgium are out. I'm sure they both thought they could go all the way (based on what I've seen Belgium would look more likely than England frankly) but to get to the semis is an acheivement nonetheless.
Still if there's anythIng else I haven't said that's making you think I may or may not be thinking something else then by all means have at it sir!

I think maybe you have that the wrong way around. It was more a demonstration in protest at the time wasting going on by Croatia after they scored. It only got worse after that, and the ref failed to manage the game at all for the last ten minutes.
Delay tactics by Croatia could be expected of course, but it was a little over the top from right after the goal. England just wanted to get on with it.

Belgium deserved to be in the final with Croacia. The 2 best teams in the tournament.
That being said, this world cup was quite mediocre. Most of the games were very poor. I'm not sure if this is a consequence of the excessive amount of matches during the season european leagues, which results in overexausted players, or the impact of modern football's focus on "not losing first, winning second".
