I'm going to be placing an order on some TM flight pedals within the next few days. I was just wondering if anyone has incorporated their pedals in to the SRV controls, and if so, what are they using them for?

Cheers. o7

I've thought about getting them, however I'm not settled on the price for actual value. (a bit ridiculous considering it only gives you 2 (or 4?) actual additional functions at best compared to an entire HOTAS solution for almost the same price) Now, if it offered more functionality- or about half what they're asking for them, I might reconsider. Currently I have the FCWS as well as dual T16000's so I already have plenty of room for function assignment.

If I did, however, I'd use them for forward/backward motion to free up my left stick for the turret motion while using the right for steering. :D

A lot of people steer with the pedals.

All I use them for is the boost jump personally. So just one bind for me. I use an Xbox Controller just for the SRV.

As far as flying a spaceship a joystick with yaw is much more precise.
I use my pedals for up, down, left and right thrust - excellent for combat.

Sometimes need to kick the dogs off the mattress cos they wanna cuddle when I need room to do me thang...while Im playing with meself. I find lying down with the screen on the ceiling far more comfortable fer longer sessions ^

Xbox Controller for you then.

I use CH pedals for forward and reverse in the SRV and in normal flight. It just feels natural. If I ever switch the joysticks over to the race seat, I'll probably just use the car pedals for forward/reverse.

I use the toe brakes to control the SRV's throttle, and I use the rudder to turn the turret. I've been tempted to use the rudder to turn the SRV instead, but that just feels weird.

i steer the buggy with pedals, it's fantastic. keep in mind though that srv steering is much more hectic than, say, controlling yaw in flight, so make sure your pedals are firmly attached to something.

i just ordered a monstertech stand and pedal extension for that (and because my current set up is a mess to set up and tear down each time, meaning i play less elite than i would like).

I use Saitek pedals for SRV axial roll on the main analog axis, with left toe brake for brake, and right toe brake for thrust, but I usually thrust from a throttle button.

I use my rudder pedals to steer the SRV (yaw) just like a taxiiing aeroplane. Works well

Then I use the joystick to control the SRV’s pitch and roll when “flying” and to control the turret when deployed.

.

Yup. Exactly the same thoughts. My pedals need attaching, too.

If your twist joystick is more precise than a set of pedals, you have very poor pdals.

I've got a set of VKB T-Rudder MKIII pedals, and the precision is insance in comparison to my old T16000M stick.

Yup - I steer with my feet.

Just like an airplane.
Or a billy cart.
Or a spaceship with Yaw mapped to the pedals.

It's good.

No I spent the extra cash and got the pedals with the 'e' included, so good ones :)

I like the metal on the pedals. And you can rest your feet on them during Supercruise.

hardware qualities apart, usually hands are more precise than feet. the thing is to steer the srv you don't need that much precision and it's ok to correct. aiming fixed hardpoints with yaw is a different matter. i lost aim going from avg joystick twist (x52pro) to quality pedals (crosswind) ... driving the srv however is very efficient and crazy fun.

then again, controlling with most of your body is an experience on its own. imo the whole hotas/simpit deal is about immersion, if you want to be efficient nothing should beat your fingers (e.g., m&kb).

That's what I do.

Leaves the joystick free to control the SRV's pitch & roll the same way you do in a ship.
And it means I can play Sudoku on my phone while retaining complete control of my SRV. [where is it]
I always knew you were multitalented... :D

That's how I use mine, without playing with my phone!

MFG Crosswinds here. Use them for acceleration and braking. CH Throttle mini stick for steering. Leaves the joystick free to control the thrusters off the ground or the turret. Works pretty well for me, too.

Hear hear.
Or you completely missed the point of yaw pedals and have tried using racing pedals.

I don't use mine in the srv, used them for throttle for a while. But that's.
Actually considering trying them for steering in the web.
Then again with the new virpil stick steering the srv has never been easier or more precise.

Main use for rudder pedals is combat.
They are the difference between needing gimbals or being able to use fixed guns.
