Where's all the Palladium gone?

Has anyone else noticed the lack of Palladium in the bubble, I'm finding many Extraction economies, even the most populus have 40-100 tons available. Even the rock steady Gliese 868 has only approx. 140 tons available.

Funny you ask, I'm just on a palladium rampage. In the little corner of space I'm in, 5000+ stock is not rare. It gets depleted pretty fast though. Even worse, it seems the replenishing process is quite slow.

If it is any consolation, I suspect I'll face the same problem very soon ...

I guess its to do with all the 30-50mil source palladium missions atm. :)
But yes palladium is becoming low supply.
If this is a new mechanic or is because of the amount of players flying 700t+ ships now, I dont know.

I like it though :)

I think state has seomthing to do with it. Minor faction that controls most refineries feeding an industrial system "ran out". 100+ was becoming 1-6, only really observed this after they went from boom to war. The faction owns one of 2 refinery outposts in onse system. THe second outpost, owned by a different faction remained with stocks of 198. However to counter that observation by me, the nearest larger refinery (boy to dock a large ship) had run out, but the next one along had stocks of 5000+

On saturday night hit the Bonanza. Go-fetch Palladium Wing missions, roughly on the lines of:
500 tons = 20MCr, 1000 tons 40MCr, 2200 tons 50MCr.

I had a Type-6 and used the 2nd outpost I talked about earlier, my friend had a whatver the big Empire ship is - 720 tons. We both made about 150MCr in hours work by shared wing missions.

Those missions are not spawning now.

No idea what is happening, thought it was local, but there is money to be made.

Palladium was once upon a time the primary trade commodity in much of the bubble. So FD unsheathed the nerf hammer and made Palladium stocks so volatile that a single T6 can exhaust a system quickly (exaggeration).

Yep - been mining RES sites for it and it's almost non-existent.

Not to mention that the only stock of it I could find was about 200T, 100 Ly away from me.

As for the premier OP trade commodity bit - ever since the GalMap trade tool came up you can almost always find good deals as long as you have market info, so I'm not sure that the absence of the metal was intentional.

They did change the markets around a bit in 3.0 - greater profit on a lot of goods, but Palladium supply levels and restock rates got reduced a bit. Not especially noticeable until 3.1 got half the bubble buying Palladium, though.

On an individual system level, yes, state is a major factor - Boom gives a 60% bonus to Palladium production, while War gives a 75% penalty.

Across the bubble as a whole this should mostly cancel out, and then you get the question of whether the amount players are buying exceeds the aggregate restock rate for the bubble as a whole.

I don't have the figures for the Sol bubble (only Frontier do, but here's the Palladium markets for Colonia since the start of the year.

You can see big step changes up or down as producers change state, and a general trend downwards, especially since the missions came in with 3.1

Here's the detail for one of our bigger Palladium-producing stations - note the effect between 1 June and 1 July where no-one is buying Palladium and the station is switching between Boom and Retreat states.

(Also note the slope on that recovery - it takes over a month for a depleted Palladium stock to fully recover. These source missions are just going to get harder and harder!)

Do you need it for a fetch mission?
What's the payout?

I had a couple of fetch missions for this. Ended up having to go to five different stations to get all the material required. Paid 3 million. I still see 1 and 2 million missions for palladium in Cubeo but since the sources seem to have dried up I just skip them. I have no desire to mine for six hours and HOPE that I end up with 80 tons of the stuff when I can make 15 million doing 8 or 9 fetch missions for other stuff. There's plenty of that other stuff. They can haz that stuff.

That nerf is way more ancient. Second or possible even first year after release. Though trade good shouldn't have been mostly static to begin with like they were, but Palladium has gone from overabundant to ridiculously scarce. That's how FD "balance" things. Sledgehammer or nothing.

So the answer to the OP is basically "The Palladium has gone to fetch missions". According to eddb data there is 10720458T of palladium available from 38652 locations, so it is out there (might all be in Colonia)

Anyway, I need to go and draft a reply to a 'mile wide, inch deep' thread, so I need to think of something appropriate to say: I'll leave you to this debate!

its just sold out at common places, mission wise

Some of the market data in EDDB is 120+ days old and/or locked behind 30+ minute super cruise runs so it's not that reliable!

I'm working for the next four nights so no play for me but just for fun and giggles (I can use all the giggles I can get at my age) I logged in to check the mission board out of Cubeo.

palladium requests
One mission requesting 36 tons for 4 million.
Another mission requesting 585 tons for 19.8 million

CMM composite
One mission requesting 90 tons for 4 million

Not sure where anyone is going to find 90 tons of that stuff. EDDB shows not a whole lot of that lying around.
