Super high upload requirement?

Has anything been announced about fixes for the crazy upload requirements while playing this game?

The game is currently logging and uploading a huge amount of data due to debugging purposes and in order to gain gameplay statistics. I'm pretty sure this will not be the case as we approach finished product.

Ahh okay, makes sense. Thank you for the reply!

I'm going to see if I can find a way to disable this for those of us that are unable to play due to the high upload and will update this post if I do. :D

Its p2p to if you are in an instance with 12 players and you are the designated host you are uploading to the other 11 players.

Solo play uses far less bandwidth. I don't encounter any problems despite 250ms latency to Frontier's servers and heavy shaping by my ISP.

If my ISP blocks p2p, does that mean I will not be able to play?

They might block some specific peer to peer protocols like BitTorrent but there's no way to stop your computer from directly talking to another computer on the Internet. From a technical standpoint there's no difference between your friends IP-address and the IP-address of a server so you'd have no Internet connection at all in that case. It could be done if your ISP blocked everything but white-listed sites or the entire UDP protocol, but which ISP does that?

The game uses STUN to setup the player to player connections.

For reference/comparison...

I was sitting doing nothing in-game this morning, off a station, and not one player had been on the radar for 20 minutes. My "network" log showed nothing of interest beyond "choke" messages and the odd Friends List XML update.

Throughout , my in-game upload rate was constant at 130,000 B/s.

ED doesnt have a "designated host" according to a post by one of the programmers, clients in an instance share the load of maintaining the instance objects.

Can you please define "crazy"...and how do you even know about the "crazy upload requirements"..and what exactly makes them crazy? Say, compared to other online games...or torrents or similar? Just curious.

Note: Any normal DSL line..which likely is what the most people have, has as most will probably know only a very small upload bandwidth as compared to download.

Still puzzled about you using the word "requirements" since it implies that it requires some unusual amount...and if that is not the case the game would not work or something.
