Nope.

In addition to all the content talked about at Frontier Expo, we also have some pretty cool things in the works which will be available to purchase. We're not ready to talk about them just yet so we can't give you any details but rest assured that the lifetime expansion pass owners will be looked after and will be getting their hands on premium content as part of their lifetime expansion pass before the end of 2018 and the Beyond series of updates.

Look, be angry at FD for all eternity for some stupid reason. But trying to twist in sour grapes story so you don't get disappointed again is just plain stupid.

publicity can annoy me. i had no doubt the game continues, i've ben stating the obvious here more than once, which frontier has already stated clearly: there will be dlc.

so, not odd, you just misunderstood. or misrepresented.

I doubt they'll be silly enough to do that, it would kill the game for a lot of people because then it turns Elite:Dangerous into pay-to-win. Thankfully Elite is not that in any shape or form. If that changes, my attitude and involvement in the game will too.
So I hope FDev tread carefully.

Do you not interpret Braben's statement as implying "no paid DLC for 2018" though?

For me what he said adds a question mark over the premium in 2018 question.

We didn't know freebie content would continue, the new format is still undefined. So it was more than just an empty ad, it had new info. Add in the stuff about increased staffing for FDev generally, ED specifically, & the fact that that's underpinned by the franchise doing well, and it confirmed and supplemented info we had on the game's ongoing dev. (I recognise that some of that info may not have been in the OP when you initially commented, but your sour reaction to some sparkly nothing led you to cast the whole thing as purely empty PR speak. Which was odd ;))

I interpret it as likely no expansion for 2018, sure. But the little 2018 'premium content' they've announced wouldn't be affected by that.

EDIT: Oh god, you've found a new doom strand to pursue :D

No, I don't, I don't see how you can interpret it that way. Mind you it doesn't answer if premium DLC is coming for this year, but it doesn't say no neither.

It openly says however they will announce more details quite soon.
