There’s no griefing here - simply pointing out your understanding of the term seems to be very amateurish.

The fact the battle was fought within the confines of PowerPlay, an admitted vehicle for player vs. player conflict, makes your understanding of the topic even more suspect.

Furthermore, why hunt that’s Corvette so mercilessly after the battle was clearly won? Maybe you’re not as gold hearted as you think.

Let me get this straight:

I was in a hazres and on my way back to the station this guy interdicts me, OBVIOUSLY to try kill me ..and you guys are getting upset because i called him a griefer and went too hard on him when battling him?

And IM the one whos understandning of the situation is suspect?

Show some mercy? When the battle is obviously over and you have the griefer's (who interrupted your gameplay in order to use you for HIS content) hull down to 5%, withdraw and wait for happy tears of thanksgiving to flow. Yeah that's the ticket. I'll not hold my breath for any set of gankers to show ME that courtesy when I'm about to be converted into a puff of smoke. Dont expect it to ever happen either.

Your previous video got snarky complaints about "big man taking out a cobra with a vette, big deal". So here's a video showing you taking out a vette with your vette. And now its... "flying a vette takes no skill, congratulations. Oh and why kill the poor griefer!"? Your next video should show you taking out a gank wing of a cutter and a fdl, which will generate snarky comments of "those noob gankers should git gud, congratulations!". You beat a player of equal equipment and abilities in a fair fight, let that stand on its own.
But to be honest, after 3 pages on this thread I am not even sure who is griefing whom here

Anyway, I am relatively new to PvP and I love fighting in big ships but was too afraid to get my vette out until a few days ago.
Can I get a 1vs1 with you? And since I am most likely the guy who is going to lose - a not so much to the death, friendly 1vs1?

That said, applying the term ‘griefer’ so loosely is a mistake. They were clearly operating within the rules of the game you were both playing. This isn’t to say you should appreciate or even enjoy his behavior, but let’s be a little more disciplined with our language?

If this guy is a griefer than the term has no meaning which gives much poorer behavior an easier time.

You make a good point here, but how should we refer to someone like this? The object of this attack is interrupted and feels put upon in an unfriendly manner. Purists slap down the use of griefer and ganker but never tell us violators what is the substitute term.

I agree it works better the other way: "Let's pull that guy", "pull him"

When i'm in chat, i need to make my meaning clear as quickly as possible. "griefer" and "ganker" does this. Even you, phisto, know what i'm talking about even if it doesn't fit your narrow definition. That's how language changes over time.

The "puller" in the context of this thread is most likely a true "griefer" even by your definition. He happened to bite off more than he could chew in this situation. How many "harmless" cmdrs in non-engineered ships did he clobber before running into Kite?

Last weekend I was hunting Federal shipping. A Federal defender encountered me in a target system. They repeatedly demanded a ‘1v1’ and sent me EIGHT friend requests long after I’d left the system. The one time I did respond with a joke I was met with hostility.

That’s getting closer to what I MIGHT consider griefing.
