Missile locking indicator is massive!

I tried missiles for the first time yesterday. I've only used them in the solo mission upto now..

Why is the missile lock marker so massive? It makes seeing direction changes in your target very hard.

I set up a weapons group for the lasers and another for the missiles in the end.
 
I second this, it's actually annoying when you're grouping missiles together with other weapons. The missile indicator constantly flies over your other weapons reticles and hides them, making things harder than necessary. In the end I had to split my weapon groups to avoid that.
 
Changing the missile lock marker to a circular or squarish box-type marker could help I think, rather than the lines as it is right now.

That could work if the marker is sufficiently wide (and thus not intrusive). Another way would be make the color of some stuff switch to red.

I think one smarter way to do it though would be to remove that indicator and act on the hardpoints themselves, for instance once the lock is acquired have an outline appear around the missile name and ammos. That way missiles with different ranges could be introduced.
