greatest hopes for Q4

Looks like Q4 is going to be focused more on us explorers than things have been in the past.
What are your greatest hopes?
Im just hoping for more reasons to stop and smell the roses out in the black:D

My hope is that we get a lot of phenomena and things to be found. I very much dislike the fact that most systems we jump to are just another honk.

Also, I'd love to see items (with mass) worth picking up and bringing back to civilization. Making cargo racks worthwhile.

I hope for much more interesting and involving exploration mechanics, and new 'explory' stuff to do, like for example collecting biological and geological samples with the help of a specialized exploration SRV, analyzing them in the science module on board of my ship, and then selling the data to science stations in the bubble.

I just got my new Krait to explore the black, I love it, it is my second exploration mission i’m doing since I started the game 18 months ago. My first one was back in November with an Asp Explorer; even though I did not go far (about 10,000 Ly from the bubble) I loved it a lot. What I would like to see in 4th QTR:

1. New SRV design (models)
2. A log I could download into inara (i’m on Xbox)
3. New object to explore (like comets...)
4. Like mentioned above and below able to gather samples to be able to sell on markets
5. Being able to create settlements (I know it’s not really exploration); but I will love to be able to create my own settlement on a remote moon or asteroid somewhere outside the Bible and call it home.
6. If I come up with more idea I will update my post.

1: Comets
2: More things to examine / scan / collect on planets
3: Looking forward to the probes!
4: Gas-giant skimming ;)
5: Looking forward to the new ice worlds and shaders :)
6: AN ORRERY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please?!?

In no particular order of importance.

1- More interesting things things to find, both scenery and interactive, in space and on planets. More planetary features (like the geysers and fumaroles).
2- More space and planetary environmental dangers/hazards. Things to watch out for. Gamma ray bursts, extreme radiation, solar flares, solar winds, earthquakes, decent volcanism. Allow explorers to do detailed scans of such (or at least some) environmental hazards at their own risk.
3- Things to find and pickup on planets that are actually worth it to bring back.
4- More things to scan. We are exploring the unknown, traversing alien planets for farts sake. Surely collected data from stuff on alien planets must be worth someting. Ground surveys, mineral analysis, alien vegetation/lifeforms analysis. "Scientific" things to be done with the SRV or with a landed ship, (the ground version of detailed scans), that we can bring and sell to universal cartographics or some new entity like "Xeno Biology and Geology Institute".
5- "First landed on" tags. The ground version of "first discovered by". (not something I personally care much about, but for those who do)
6- Automatically populated list of records. A self-generating list of star and planet records (largest mass, smallest radius, hottest, coldest, etc, like the records section in this site) that gets populated when the player sells the data to universal cartographics.
7- Better ingame representation of space and especially planetary environmental data. There's a huge nerdy list of numbers about each planet (heat, pressure, gravity, etc etc etc) but none of that is actually seen nor more importantly felt in-game, except for gravity. For instance, a freezing cold planet is exactly the same as a scorching hot planet from a gameplay point of view. This is a waste of the Stellar Forge potential (in terms of translating ingame data into actual gameplay). Players can't even notice the difference, without going to the system map and look at the numbers.
8- Better exploration ship UI. Show at least some basic data about the star or planet after finishing the scan, without needing to go to the aforementioned nerdy list screen.
9- More celestial bodies like comets, and black holes that actually pose a threat without a "automatic ship brake". Let players approach them at their own risk. Better black hole visuals, like accretion disks on some.
10 - A couple of new exploration ships. Sick of the lakon console, or having to use the scraps from other professions.
11 - More SRVs, with different handling and capacities.
12 - More detailed planetary scanning mechanics, with increasing detailed results.
13 - Exploration missions, where the player is requested to go investigate and collect detailed data from somewhere, either objects from space, of geological/biological data from the planet soil, or from some space/planetary anomaly, etc.
14 - More Star Trek, not just Star Wars! I understand that is more difficult to implement a Star Trekkish game, than to implement a Star Warish game. But nothing really worth it was ever easy. This is where ED can become truly special.

More modules required, that makes most ships inadequate exploration [knocked out]

There's your risk trade off: AFMU or Controller Module for Probe Limpets.

What I would like to see:

- The sun comes up: "Warning: 6 minutes until heat shield failure." "Ugh! The tire's melted!"
- "What's that? Wait a minute... Quicksand! We're sinking!!! Quick, get us out of here..."
- "Whoa... I think that was a 7 pointer... Is the ship still upright?"
- Bang! "What was that???" Oh look a new crater... Weeeeeeee Thud... "Shields down, chassis integrity compromised..." "Ah Jees… got hit by a meteorite... again..."
- Hmmm, that looks kinda stable... let's set her down there... gently does it... uh... oh no... no... pull up... phew... that was close.

I dunno, just dreaming...

However, I'm looking forward to the probes where I can scan a planet and find my way down to a fumerole or volcano without eyeballing the entire planet or having to log in to someone else's spreadsheet...

I do hope that with the new surface stuff and scanning for them, they won't introduce NMS-levels of galactic litter. I'd rather not have every planet strewn with crashed ships and whatnot, and would just prefer some rare finds - with rewards worth investigating for, mind.

still no announcement on the schedule :( i think they meant Q4 2019

but i would be looking for...

Different SRVs
Small ship explorer love
more small ship exploration variants
Planets like the concept art
More planet variety - sick of the golf balls
ways to find brain trees etc without hand wavium and guess work.
black hole worm holes
atmospheres and all that comes with it
faster SC speeds - AND align it with ship agility, i.e. a small ship accelerates and decelerates ALOT dam faster than a brick- conda remains as is in SC because its a 400t monstrosity.
OR All ships should have a SC speed based on its thruster speed and accelerate / decelerate accordingly which is balanced already via the ships, a worthy sacrifice to range IMO

space slugs for the giggles

A Nice looking Dolphin paint pack instead of painting by numbers for 2 year olds.
Perhaps they could fix the dolphin heat bug too.

Galaxy map searcher that can show the nearest black hole, O type star, etc... without having to scan manually looking. Also some dedicated explorer ships with enough modules spots to be useful.

I would love to have extremely rare, giant leviathan space squids that are deadly if you get too close, and merely awe-inspiring at a distance. ;) :D

Something like this on landable bodies.
