Community Event / Creation ***Attention Explorers*** GNOSIS Jumps planned THROUGH a permit Lock !

Thx for confirming the respawn option!
This begs the question if it would be considered useful to bring a disposable ship, to not rebuy, in case of the 4 weeks of isolation might be too long in one spot.

Could do - sell explo data on Gnosis and suicide back. It's not far though ;)

I can confirm a good supercharge from 64 Orionis C ...
The plotting trick I think is to tick Jump Boost (below Fastest Route - of which Jet Cone is subsidiary).

This is peculiarity when plotting a route out from a neutron/white dwarf star system, as ticking fast route + jet cone will include them in the middle of a route.

You need to actually do the supercharge before Jump Boost will take note of it of course but Jet Cone (part of Fastest Route) stays ticked, so try plotting your full route as usual.

Tried your suggestion. I could use FSD boost in the plot settings once the FSD was charged, but it would only allow a single jump, and wouldn't plot a multi-jump route. So I just found a system in the general direction at the max range and set a course for there. I see the same odd behaviour when using Jumponium.

I made it back just in time! On my way to 64 Orionis!
Hey, let's all do ourselves a favor and not kill each other whilst we're out there? We may be encountering something in that permit locked region. *Disclaimer* I do NOT have ANY inside info, I just want to take this adventure.

I refuse to go to solo play. That feels like cheating to me.

I think ...

1. Supercharge FSD
2. Plot a route using Fastest Route (+ jet cone)
3. Now tick FSD boost and the fast route (2) recalculates, using supercharged first jump.

Confirm?

I can inform Commanders that supercharge survives a game log out and re-load. I'm docked with FSD that remained supercharged overnight. It will be interesting to see if supercharge survives Gnosis relocation also (I don't see why not) which may (or may not) be useful on arrival 64 Orionis --> HD 51502 on Thursday.

My thoughts exactly. I am sure if Frontier didn’t want us in there it would stop us from making the jump, but it is in the latest official newsletter and the Beyond update just a few days before the jump.... interesting indeed

More than likely only a few commanders will manage to snag all of the tags as it will be a race to see how fast you can turn the data in. Since the Gnosis jumps on the server ticks on Thursdays I won't have any chance at all since I'll be at work during said time. However, I can at least explore it for my own sake while the ship is there, even if it's doubtful I'll manage to get any tags due to the competition.

It should still be rather fun at any rate.

I wonder if Raxxla is in there???

That place has already been explored to smithereens back in 2015. Remember that that whole area use to be unlocked before Horizons.

Here's a thread with some pics from KY Monocerotis, a supergiant one jump away from the Cone Nebula:

edit: No, I think best you can do is, manually ....

1. Supercharge FSD
2. Plot route using Fastest Route (+ jet cone)

3. Tick FSD boost, supercharged jump distances show.
4. (arrow) 'Set target' (one supercharge jump away) close to - preferable on - your plotted route
5. On arrival recalculate / resume route.

I am in. Coming back from a trip to the Zurara , I was docked at the farsight's facility in the heart nebula. Will catch the Gnosis at the last rdv point I guess.

Unless I could get a permit for the GNOSIS current system, I'm too late for the rest or the trip correct?

No need for permit to get to the gnosis and you still have a few weeks to get onboard.
We leave 64 Orionis for HD 51502 next thursday at 07:00. Then onto Outotz ST-I d9-4 the following thursday, this will be the last stop before we enter the inaccessable cone sector on the 6th september at 07:00!

Will HD 51502 have a long drive out to where the ship is parked? If not, I think I might just head out there and wait, rather than do the 500k slog again.

Agree. It's Fast route & Jet Cone Boost, or FSD Boost after charging or jumponium synthesis. The first option pair seems only to be valid when neutron is the primary and allows multi-hop route. FSD Boost is single hop, and you have to find the target system manually.

I did find that FSD boost with a neutron charge gives a Level 3 boost though, so that's something I suppose.

I've done the 500k slog about 4 times now. Day-tripper.

Ha! I will happily bow to your superior explorering.

I think I'm going to work my way down to the Robin's Egg Nebula, and from there I can probably pick a leisurely route back to HD 51502. I'll see all the hardworking supercruisers there! [haha]

Anyone has searched what kind of jump range is needed to explore the area once inside the cone sector? Is it a sparse area or normal?

Can't say as I have yet, though with 24Ly range - admittedly fully equipped - I'm a little more concerned about the rift region coming after! That could get tricky.

Thought it would be fun to embark in a deeply impractical explorer.
Mining like mad for jumponium this week with a new add for my sig ;

Yeah me too, I'm equipping a Corvette with firepower and 30lys range. But I think the gnosis jumps about 500 lys at a time, so once it gets out the cone sector it won't be too far from the bubble..

The area around the Cone Nebula itself is a very tight cluster of stars. But the area around that cluster is not very dense. I would say, only by looking at it in the galmap, that you'll be fine with around 30ly range, but might struggle a bit in some areas with less than 25ly.

As fo what next, I don't know the rest of the route. But the current route is climbing above the galactic plane, if it keeps climbing stars will start to become sparse.
