Still, Steam represent a significant sample size of the whole community.
According to FD it isn't (as ED community). Which surprised me as well, but ED doesn't require Steam to be run so...

Here, I think you guys should read about sample size.

Sure you are, otherwise why write anything?
Each time someone presents something as fact, I'd really like to see a citation. It doesn't have to be a link, but 'David interviews' really isn't specific at all. If it's been stated lots of times surely it'd be really easy to give one example.
I think ED's flame has several, infact many good years to burn.
Jebus help me. FDev aren't paying my undercover cultist shill job enough to deal with these pigheaded grind threads!...
Oops! I meant to say: Shut up! Elite rules!

He came from a game that was literally dead and in maintenance mode.
Even he has to admit Elite doesn't even come close to fitting that category.
Shhhht! 609 to 206, should I ask David at the meeting tomorrow for more cookies? I have enough Painit gems, yet.
Hey guys, you running low on tinfoil.
You argued that ED is doing badly because devs don't listen to you and your friends. Now you are saying FD is doing good. I am very confused.
FD doing well has everything to do with ED as it stil their biggest money maker. Game is thriving, when in your opinion it shouldn't. You are ignoring other possible perspective - game is doing well with certain part of player base who enjoys it.

Interesting seeing planet coaster in silver tier for 2017 while ED is in Bronze.Well, here are two facts:
In 2017 ED was among the Top 100 best-selling games on Steam:

And for the first half of 2018, ED was among the Top 100 best-selling games on Steam:

Some will take a different view, but I can't find anything to worry about here.
Am I missing something you're looking at?Those are good facts!
Here's another: according to SteamCharts (that the OP referred to) Jan 2018 was the best month ever for average Steam CMDR concurrency.
All in all, not bad for a 3.7yr old game.

Steam charts shows that the playerbase is pretty healthy and didn't decline in the last 3 years. Which is quite an achievement.Still, FD could be doing good and ED not and I'm not saying ED is in an emergency state at all but I do trust steamcharts.

Yea I love the idea and beauty of this game but it is as deep as a puddle and I stopped playing ages ago.
And from one the few old timers who know me from that long forgotten battlefield...so say we all
This is why we should really change our names when we switch games...some things are best left in the past, but however...I played that game fer 6 years and this game fer 3 years, so theres the comparison in terms of time played.
Have some rep fer being absolutely correct m8...I would never even dream of saying this game was in developement mode because this really aint that far gone. I actually pointed out at the start I didnt really care how well things are going long term...but I need to cut my own emotional attachment to this game at some point, cos I would say its on a path Ive seen before and I aint goin down that path again. They really aint doin themselves any favors at this point...I wonder do they even realize.
Whatever m8...as the years roll by, my patience grows ever thinner with dev teams who do the same thing and make the same mistakes time and time again. Long gone are the days when I cared enough to sink hundreds of hours and 4 in the morning all nighters beta testing to help them...Im too old and too salty fer all that nonsense so if they deliver the goods, then we all dance a merry jig around the bonfire of old games who made the mistakes that frontier didnt make and learned from.
Thats the hope anyway...thats all there is left at this point Im done caring what they say now...they said enough last October to keep me interested through most of this year, but now I wanna be impressed by something tangible and Im bored waiting to see it become a reality.
I dont intend on making the same mistake I did on other past games hanging around fer years when it was a waste of time...theres gotta be a point where it all ends and ye have to mentally walk away fer yer own sanity sake. Well...I do anyway and it works fer me and at the end of the day, thats the only thing that really matters ^
Yep, the same David Braben. He's apparently quite successful, received multiple awards, and met Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II. Very cool!
