Community Event / Creation ***Attention Explorers*** GNOSIS Jumps planned THROUGH a permit Lock !

Yes, that is correct. If you login to a different XBox account, you will get a new CMDR. I have one, myself. But, unless you have a Gold account for that second login, you will only be able to play in Solo.

oh, ok thankyou....shame, not too much point being a criminal if you cant be a pirate to other (albeit rare) players

Are I right in thinking that if can get to the Gnosis in the system Outotz ST-I d9-4 before the jump on the 6th September to Cone Sector FN-J B9-0 I should be ok? Or should I aim to be on the Gnosis in the HD 51502 system?

I can't plot a route to the Outotz ST-I d9-4 system from the bubble as there are permit locked regions in between but I assume with careful navigation I can still get to the system? Can anyone please confirm? Thanks.

You're best heading to HD 51502. As far as I know, the next system can't be reached as it is 'surrounded' by permit locked systems, and no player ship can make the jump to the non-permit locked system in the middle.

EDIT: correction, the cone sector system is the one surrounded by permit locked systems. But I'd still go for the HD 51502 system, it'll be much easier to get to.

I can't check this right now, but a lot of people (including myself) have visited The Hades Edge system. And this system is just one or two jumps from our WP in Outotz. So there should be no significant navigation problems.

If you are in the Bubble right now, I suggest that you at first plot your course slightly below in the direction of Orion Nebula Tourist Centre, and then turn up to HD 49368 and Outotz. This route is 100% passable, I've gone it myself during The Outer Rim Station Tour.

Though this time I will get there from above, as I want to pay a visit to some close carbon stars on my way to the Gnosis.

Thanks for the replies. I am in the Bubble at the moment and there's things I want to do there before heading out.

I don't mind doing the difficult route knowing it's possible and as I'm on holiday the 1st week of September I can easily get to Outotz before the main jump. :)

All the non locked systems that the Gnosis visits before jumping into the Cone sector on the 6th of September are easily accessible, I visited them all, plus a couple of space outposts in the area with my 31lys Corvette during the last week or so. 1500 lys are like 25-30 jumps for an average exploration ship so no big deal to catch gnosis..

Yeah, I just tried plotting a route from it's current location -> next week and it was fine - I think some had issues plotting straight from the bubble, but it is possible ;)

GNOSIS - How is this going to work ?
I would like to join the Gnosis expedition but I'm kinda confused on how this will work,
I figure that I will have to store a ship on the Gnosis, but since you can only use 1 ship at a time, (I have 4 ships, 1 for each type of play), how do I leave a ship there and still be able to continue playing until the Gnosis leaves?
- do I suspend play until that date and join the ship just b4 it's leaving? or what? -
I don't see any other way,
That means I have to be online during the event or login after the event and use that ship I placed in the Gnosis ship bay.
I would like to join this event but can't see the 2 options being viable to my style of play.
BTW, where the hell is the Gnosis ATM? I thought it was parked in the Merope system but could not find it there.
I'm all for exploration and finding new places, but if the scenario is as I have described, I don't think it has been well thought out

The Gnosis doesn't have shipyard, outfitting only, so you can't "leave" anything there.

How is this going to work?

It is simple. The Gnosis jumps on Thursday during the server's reboot. If you are docked before the reboot -- then after it you will undock in the new system. If you are not docked -- then you are unlucky :D

I thought it was parked in the Merope system but could not find it there.

Because it is already on it's way. It is in HD 51502 now. By the way there is a schedule in the opening post ;)

.. NINJA'D ..

Gnosis doesn't have a shipyard so you can't store ships aboard, basically you'll be tied to the ship until she comes out from behind the permit wall. There is a limited outfitting and you can store (say a docking computer) there, so you can track Gnosis in game by looking for your stored DC from other outfitters. (Not ships though).

Gnosis is at system HD 51502 .. until next Thursday morning (30th).

The Gnosis doesn't have a shipyard, so if you're there, you're there. And, unless you commit a crime and the mechanism actually works, once she jumps you'll be there for the duration.

You take your ship, and dock at the Gnosis any time before the jump. Any ship that is on the Gnosis when she makes a jump (i.e. during the server downtime Thursday mornings) will be transported with the Gnosis to the new location.

Then you can use the Gnosis as base for your operations out there (nothing else will be there).

You don't need to suspend playing - you can do everything you want, your ship just has to parked on the Gnosis during the server downtime. If you miss the bus, then (for the next couple of weeks, at least), you can still hop over to the next stop yourself (it's only 500 ly further out).

If that doesn't fit your idea of playing ED, then you better don't come.

Currently (see the first post in this thread) she's at HD 51502. Personally, I'm back in the bubble at Fullerene C60 for the ongoing Buckyball race and will make a line for HD 51502 probably on Monday. We get the 3.3 update on Tuesday, and both game stability and server performance have been erratic after past updates, so it may not be a good idea to schedule that trip for Tuesday (downloading the update) or Wednesday (downloading the bugfixes :)). And by Thursday evening, she'll be another 500 ly further out, sandwiched already between locked sectors.

You know what ... al these people saying "I'm on board" made me think ... now THIS is where a space bar and space legs would REALLY come into its own. I never really cared much for space legs before but if everyone here was milling around in the bar area having this discussion ... yeah, OK .... that WOULD be cool*1.
