Lost in space

So, im not really lost, kinda ran out of fuel.

So did some googling and forum searches but not much luck, so, can anyone tell me what my options are stuck in deep space in a system that has no space dock with not enough fuel to jump anywhere??:eek::eek:

Thanks in advance for whats likely to be bad news:D

Well as I see it you have two options. As there is currently no way to give fuel or scoop it.

1. Self destruct
2. Wait for patch with fuel scooping

Really depends on how attached you are to your ship :p

There should be an option in your right hand control panel for something like "activate SOS signal", which will have a placeholder ship come along and offer you fuel at an outrageous markup.

That should be enough to get you back to a station somewhere.

This - it's called "Distress beacon". At the moment it magically conjures up a passing friendly who will sell you a tank of gas at an exorbitant rate (about 700Cr to fill up a Sidewinder). It happens almost instantly.

In the long term it will probably be a more interesting mechanic that might attract pirates or other players who can transfuse fuel directly to you.

I would be totally amazed if a ship dropped out of Hyperspace near you, shoots a line/cable/hose towards your ship, you hear a "thud" and some sound effects of liquid gushing through it.

After some time (minutes or seconds depending on size of ship), a "clunk" sound could be heard when the hose retracts, and then the ship jumps back into Hyperspace.

OR

A "tanker-class" ship drops out of Hyperspace near you, drops some fuel pods, you use your scoops to pick them all up :p Each pod only refuels some fraction of your tank. Pick up enough before pirates come, you could possibly jump out to the nearest system with a gas station :D

I don't know what is planned graphics-wise for fuel transfer, or for ship-to-ship trading, but I hope there will be something interesting and not just a magical transfer done through a trade screen while the ships sit next to each other. Heck, I'd like to have to go EVA and connect up the hoses :)

that would be a good mechanic to have, may be if the ship to badly damage to automatically connection to the ship, may be you have to wield it on, clear debri and so forth for the fuel line to get attach so you can limp back to a space station.

Quick. Tell me where you are. I'll come and "help" you... :)

I've never ran out of fuel myself, but I thought there was some sort of AA (Astromobile Association) you could call. They charge you an arm and a leg because they got you over a barrel.

Have a check of your side screens.

Worked a treat, thanks a million :smilie::smilie:
