General / Off-Topic I am sick of this community

My personal favourite posters are the "I've played this game for 1000s of hours and it's rubbish! I demand a refund!" crowd. Lol

At roughly 1000 hours, I'm not enjoying this game like I used too, but I thoroughly enjoyed at least the first 500-600 hours, probably more.
No other game got that kind of time investment.

Seems to me FD is gambling big on the Q4/premium, and I sure hope it'll pay out.
Not so sure about that, at least some of us have been reasonably happy with what FD have been releasing and have indicated as being released for the Q3 update. :)

I would not say FD are gambling on Q4/Premium to any degree. Your fundamental assertion is of the type that I have come to expect from the habitual doomsayers and haters in these forums.

Q4 is merely a big update of (most likely interdependent) features and FD obviously want to make sure it is right and have probably been working on elements of the Q4 content through out this year. As for the Premium content, as an LEP owner I am interested in what FD are doing in that area but overall FD as a developer have to deliver what they feel is appropriate when they feel it is appropriate to do so. No real "gambling" involved.

I find the worst part about new releases is the last few days before they are released - it sometimes curtails your enthusiasm to engage with the game because what you really want to do may take you out of position relative to where you want to be when the update lands.

Negativity is justified. Once you play the game long enough you will see all the flaws, placeholders and repitition.

Perhaps if Frontier released anything of substance this year coming with an appropriate price tag, instead of diverting attention to a dinosaur game, the situation would be different.

I would argue that if you played the game long enough to see only flaws, it's time to stop.
It's called "burning out", not "bad game"

I've been more than once at that point (of the OP) and all I want to say is this: Why on earth do I need to be more specific when addressing people who are as unspecific in their rants as in any way possible? Take it as a somewhat skewed variant of "Knotty timber requires sharp wedges". :p

Too many bookkeepers among the community musing about a 'product', I guess...

This has been true in any argument ever. Be it argument with flat-earthers, religious zealots or compulsive haters - their goal is to keep the debate as diluted and messy as possible to be able to avoid being caught out on details, yet they always demand proofs and sources and clean argumentation from you. That's how things are. This planet is wrong. :D

Uninformed complaints, entitlement and strange flat earth arguments is the new world order. NMS is cherished as some sort of mesiah just because they finally started to deliver some the game they promised, marketed and charged for 2-3 years ago.

Who would have thought Hello Games would turn out to have more integrity than Frontier Developments? I'm shocked at it too (I'm not shocked).

Lots of substance coming this year, but because its not to your liking (or whatever) its being twisted to look like nothing of substance is coming out.
You are a whiner.

I'll "believe in it" when I see it.

You should too.

Yeah...you. ;)

Humans, society, fantastic stuff eh?

There is an important difference between saying "What I'd like to see added to the game is...." and "Why isn't this in the game?".

My biggest ask is NPC crew and wingmates. Personally I've love the opportunity to purchase androids to fly NPC ships and man stations. They'd be expensive and not part of rebuy (like cargo isn't) and the more you pay, they better they perform. I think it would have been a much better way to handle SLFs. That, or have persistent human crew who eject like you do buy have a "satisfaction" bar that means that they quit if they get blown up or asked to do things they don't like too often. Elite crew are damned expensive and you need to offer a competitive salary. Also SLF crew occasionally come with missions. Could be a whole new dimension to flying the larger ships.

Agreed. But I don't think having issues with the game and suggestions of fixes and features is considered bad by anyone. Being a sad loner I am, NPC crew is one of my biggest wishes as well.
Like you pointed out at the start, it's not what people say, it's how they say it.

Plus I think OP's problems are more with the general "mood" on the forums rather than people wanting more stuff in the game.
I think OP mostly reads Dangerous Discussion. I stopped doing that almost entirely a long time ago and I feel much happier around here. :)

^ I'd be placing my bets here. ;)

There's a broad line between providing constructive critique- and straight crap-posting about not only the game, but the development staff and moderators themselves.

That's true.

The mods often get complaints from both sides, here, as well: Either we are squashing debate when we have to step in to put out fires or we are letting the forum descend into anarchy by not shutting down every 'negative' thread out there. :p

Not all "complaint posts" are worthless and not all "white knight" posts are faultless. I wish people were more tactful online in general and thought a bit before hitting the 'post' button that the person they're taking to task is a human being, too. It's also true that feedback couched in vitriol is not going to be paid much attention to, no matter how loudly the participants shout. That's just human nature.

The point is not get caught up with what you desire vs what this game is ultimately about spiced with something like an entitled attitude.

Quick example is "space legs". While I understand there are videos of devs saying "that would be nice to have", it ultimately have to fit in with the game to actually WORK. I dont see ED as a candidate for space legs, since I bought the game for the "flying of spaceships". FPS games we have enough of. However, if Frontier add something like Lone Echo gameplay for spacelegs then I am all for it. But that would mean a complete change of tone for this game... and I just dont see that happening... because this is a game of flying space ships.
