Going to the Gnosis? What ship are you taking with you?

You better all bring battlecondas and decked out Corvettes!
Im calling it now. You are jumping to Little Big horn. The Far God lives there! Nobody's getting out without a rebuy screen. Its gonna be complete pandemonium! Much weeping and gnashing of teeth. Woe be to sidewinder and viper pilots.
Heed my warning! The end is nigh!!!!

In other words, during the server update, those of us ON the Gnosis will be seeing a post at the top of our screens that states "Abandon all hope, ye that enter here."

A small band of heroes, against insurmountable odds, little chance of survival, great chance of a horrible death.

When do we start? They will sing lofty songs of us to many mugs of mead in the Halls of Sovengard.

My admittedly somewhat mediocre multi-role (PVECombat/Trade/Explo) Clipper is already on board. I can shoot some things, but most importantly I can run away quickly from others!

:D

Unless Tuesday's update opens up area's to allow the Cone Sector to be accessible to all, without using a 500ly jump 'exploit', it's only going to further alienate the Cannon group from the rest of the community. Whether something is found in there or not.

I really wish the devs would think things through before 'siding' with a player group.

As far as I've heard we all get to ride The Gnosis - no affiliation with Canonn required.

Dudes the sector has already been mapped to some degree already. The gnosis is boldly going where many commanders have been before.

The permit locks are reasonably recent so folks assuming there will be endless systems might get a surprise to find quite a bit has been mapped already.

Go for it though. Just, folks have been there before so best of luck.

These "other groups" you speak of, do you speak for them? I only ask because I've yet to see any group that is of the same size and level of contribution as Cannon that has balked about the event. If they did gripe about it, I'd say it's more sour grapes than FD having a bias toward Cannon.

Even if FD does indeed grant partiality to Cannon, I am completely OK with this. Cannon has earned its place well beyond a player group. They have created lore that is...*dadpun incoming* canon. I consider them to be an integral part of this game by and through their work.

tl;dr Cannon deserves to have this event. As far as any kos lists go, I'd wager Cannon isn't advocating for it, either.

The developer is building for all. Dont play the "x group deserves this", because it does make one sound a bit like a prat which I am sure is not the intent.

Frontier has a habit of passing game content through groups which can alienate people. Claiming some sort of high ground doesn't really help.

Gnosis could have gone most anywhere and there aren't entirely endless groups with megaships at this point. Frontier was kind to a group and that's fine if that's what they want to do.

Translating that to some sort of deserved outcome is very warped and arrogant thinking. Its not really overly constructive. Commanders can catch a lift and that's cool. No more really needs be said.

I shall raise my Hutton mug in remembrance of you all!

So I am stuck with a 40 million credit budget. That leaves my options at my Courier, DB Explorer, or my Asp. Or I could build a Chieftan or a Clipper.

If you are short on budget -- take iCourier (if you don't mind it's cockpit). It is cheap, it has a lot of slots for it's size, and it can be fantastically fast to outrun almost anything.

Personally I will take my iPhone, sorry, I mean Clipper :) It is almost as fast, has a lot of slots (not enough, of course, but you can never have enough slots, unless you are in a conda :D), and, what is most important, with 7A scoop it refuels almost instantly.

.

I'll play whatever I want, it's my opinion, thank you.

Sooo... FD has a habit of doing things you're ok with. Me too!

Noted and immediately ignored.

No more really needs be said.

I'll be the judge of what I can continue to say, thank you.

I didn't reflect on your opinion's value, I simply suggested what it sounds like. Canonn are another player group. The end.

I didn't indicate that you valuated my opinion, I just pointed out that you have no control over how I express myself, a response to your comment Dont play the "x group deserves this". In simpler words - don't tell me how to express my thoughts when I post. Still, I'm glad you took the time to opine on the tone, very informative, I'm sure.

He he, I know someone at Frontier has a red face - the Cone Sector the Gnosis was supposed to jump into next month is permit locked now.

I'm sure they'll get this sorted out in the next server update. I wonder who threw THAT switch?
I blame TJ.

Cone Sector's boundary is permit locked; however the interior was not as of pre 3.2; Gnosis can essentially jump through the 'locked' zone either side of the permit barrier allowing access into the inner region. Commanders can't because nothing else has sufficient range from a single jump perspective.

To be fair, Gnosis isn't even "jumping" from a game perspective anyway; it's being relocated between two systems by Frontier. To "emulate" the jump it would make, if it actually could do such a thing. There is no other way in, or out (that is known).

If Frontier have gone on to lock the entirety of the sector, not just the boundary into it, then that's actually hilarious.

edit: they've locked most of the Cone Sector. AHAHAHAHA.. oh god my sides, let me know when Q4 update drops - best of luck everyone. o/

They probably looked where my ship currently is & said

'....Hey, this CMDR's near to finding a 'legitimate' route to the Cone Sector, LOCK IT OFF, LOCK IT OFF!!!....'

Added.

On saying that, I'm now intrigued!

For FD to suddenly 'lock off' the Cone region & the nearby 2Mass region as well....what's going on? Why have FD locked it all off?
Last time that happened to me I was landed on a planet in HIP 22460, when it got locked off, now there's a Megaship in there.

Update 3.2 brought me absolutely ZERO stuff that interests me in the slightest.

My dilemma now is..

Do I park up & put the game to bed until Q4?

or

Dock at the Gnosis & see what FD's up to? - all the time knowing it's likely to be nothing!

I just don't get what all the griping is about.

If you want to jump with the Gnosis and find out what Frontier has put in the cone sector, then go along

If you don't want to, then don't.

It's totally up to you if you want it to be part of your Elite Journey or not.

(I'm taking a Python)

I'm staying with the Gnosis. If we don't get any response soon from FD on why they've suddenly closed that sector off, I can only assume it was deliberate, and I want to see what we find when we get there (one way or the other).
