I don’t have a dog in this fight - not a LEPer, not in any big hurry to throw money at anything in particular. I know full well the things I want to see most are not part of Beyond, though there are some good distractions coming.

It's hard to read.
But for me the "important" and "discussing as fast as possible" says they understand the issues and need to talk to the community about it, which for me I interpret as a "not in 2018", I generally read "important" and "quick" as not positive news.
Other interpretations are valid, there's nothing conclusive in what Ed said, just personal interpretations based on language used.

Yeah, I was watching that live ... a really important question that many people have been clammering for an answer to and it was like Ed had something important to say but then got distracted by Will's tomfoolery and kinda tailed off (with me attempting to scream in chat "finish the damn sentence") ... honestly, I love Ed but sometimes I just ... (shakes head and slowly walks off into the distance).
To be honest I fail to see how anyone can translate it at all with a time reference. It's pretty much meaningless at the moment.
Ok. So the " really really cool" part would be for moving the conversation to another place and not talking bout premium content?
Oh you will get an answer, as they are great people at communicating. It will be ofc along the lines of "nothing to announce at the moment", but an answer non the less. Dont forget to thank them afterwards for the responce.
I can interpret it in the way I described in my post.
The time period is clearly related to Zac's previous statement of "will be delivered in 2018".
To me it sounds like:
1) They have cool stuff to announce.
2) It wont come this year.
I can only presume this suggests there has been an unforseen issue, and they are waiting with any announcements until they have a more solid release date to give beyond "sorry guys, its delayed".

The cool comment Ed makes is not related to premium content, it is more of an "ooh shiny" as the SLF exits the ship.

To me at the time the "something important that we should be talking about" sounded like a doctor with serious news and the "really cool" was a reaction to what was on Will's screen. Anyone else read it that way?

Hard to imagine:
- Exclusive ships/weapons/modules: this would be considered pay-to-win, the forum would explode.
- Exclusive access to stations/planets: same.
- Exclusive cosmetic items: maybe, but the store is already full of paid cosmetic items.
Unless it's a different type of cosmetic item. In-game wearables maybe?

A £15 Gold Krait skin aside.
My feeling is Premium Content could be story based content based on a series of missions with custom audio content, possibly with cosmetic skin/decals etc.. rewards for completion or access to unique areas/stations. Maybe even cut scenes.
Ideally it would be branching and replayable content.
Difficulty with this is fitting story content into ED, there aren't that many hooks to hang stuff like that on, but it seems like a path Frontier could take, especially given original Elite had unique missions in it.
