Hello park managers!

We're happy to announce that the next free update for Jurassic World Evolution is coming on 13 September, 2018! Hold on to your butts while we tell you what you can expect from the update, or watch back the livestream with Executive Producer Rich Newbold here.

ALL NEW CHALLENGE MODE

A new feature greatly requested within the community is Challenge Mode (separate from Story Mode). You'll find yourself with very little starting money as you progress through Isla Nublar, with difficulty levels that you can adjust before you start (easy, medium, hard and Jurassic). We're also adding some new mechanics like Hammond Foundation fees, contract cancellation penalties, and personal best completion times. You can unlock new skins (and achievements/trophies!) when you complete Challenge Mode for the first time and also when you beat the ultimate challenge, Jurassic difficulty! Good luck!

MORE SANDBOX OPTIONS

Isla Nublar is our dedicated sandbox island, and we're adding more options so you can play the way you want to; you can toggle these settings in the Options Menu at any time. A few exciting additions are the lifespan toggle (dinosaurs no longer die of old age), cash level toggle (decide how much cash is available to you), various difficulty settings (dinosaur variety, rating, guest count, and economics), feeder resupply toggle (no more pesky ranger jobs!), and power toggle (no power stations or power requirements needed, as well as no power outages).

LIGHTING OPTIONS FOR CAREER ISLANDS

Once you have achieved 5 stars on each island in Career Mode, you'll unlock different lighting options: default, dawn, dusk, and night. You can now revisit your islands and choose which setting you want to play in, which should give you some nice new challenges and more opportunities for gorgeous photographs.

NEW CONTRACT TYPES

We're adding some more variety of contracts for all Divisions, which will have you working to improve guest coverage, increase dinosaur visibility and rating, and achieve higher levels of profit for your island. Make sure you're up to the task before accepting them!

NEW VIEWING CAMERAS

We're adding new camera features to the viewing gallery and viewing platform so you can watch your enclosures from your guests' perspectives, as well as a first-person camera to the monorail train - positioned at a height above the train that will go over stations.

KOREAN AND ITALIAN LANGUAGE SUPPORT

We're happy to be bringing both Korean and Italian Voice Overs and subtitles to the game, so players from those regions can enjoy the game with their native language. Welcome to the community!

SIZE MATTERS

We've listened to your feedback regarding some of the carnivores' sizes in the game, and are making the following changes to bring them more in line with the Jurassic franchise:

  • Scale down the Ceratosaurus from 9.6m (current) to 9m
  • Scale down the Tyrannosaurus Rex from 14m (current) to 13.5m
  • Scale up the Spinosaurus from 13.7m (current) to 15m (making her taller but less bulky than the T-Rex)
  • Scale up the Giganotosaurus from 12m (current) to 13.5m
ADDITIONAL FEATURES

Other than what's above, we're also adding several new things based on your feedback such as a camera zoom toggle, the option to cancel a research project or incubation, the option to revert all the genes to default, new dinosaur bio information in the Genome Library (health and comfort requirements), shortcuts to research items from the Upgrade and Build menus, and more general fixes and tweaks to the game. We will post the full list of fixes on September 13 with the 1.4 Release Notes for you to go through at your leisure.

We thank you for your continued support since the game's launch on June 12, and for your diligent bug reporting on the forums. We're very excited about this update and cannot wait to see what you'll make of it!

Definitely looking forward to the update! Glad about the size adjustments too actually as well as the Spinosaurus roar being more accurate to Jurassic Park ///.

Thank You!! [big grin]

I think you guys nail the first update! These changes are urgently needed for players to stay with the game. Hopefully they will buy you the time to work on bigger, more expansive content stuffs.

Personally, I’m very surprised with the hotel view. I love that! My only concern is the Dino lifespan options. I hope they can be implemented on other islands as well (can be balanced with economic difficulty perhaps?).

Edit:- Forget the concern. I missed Rich’s sentence that Dino will live longer across the game. This is awesome!

Really happy about this! I know size was one of the real hot topics at the time, though I hope going forward the next big thing will be additional decorative/building options and dinosaur behaviors! Both in the movies and the game, they should absolutely be the real stars and have more personality and the possibility of identifying unique individuals by behavior alone.

Pretty excited for the update! wish there was more stuff added like herding and sleeping animation but at least this update is something. Hopefully on the next content update, frontier will add herding, sleeping, etc in the long run. Can't wait for the content to drop on September 13th!

Things are oddly quiet around here after the twitch stream lol. I do like the sandbox changes. Not really sure if I care about challenge mode. Very curious on what they are still keeping secret. Nothing was touched on with terrain tools, island size(new bigger island?)and terrain restrictions. Guess we will have to wait until the 13th to find out!

You're gonna make me do it...

When I saw the bit about challenge mode I was like, Nice but I'm a sandbox kinda gal...
Then you went and did it. New skins. grrr....
Now I must play Challenge! LOL

I am really looking forward to the 13th!

Thank you!!!!

*Sigh*

So no relatively new content? No new skins? No shops? Just a first person view, some resized models and a challenge mode with no new content unlocks. I'll just wait till DLC or a big ol' content update (like age of triumph in Destiny) is dropped.

THANK YOU FRONTIER!! OMG YES! This is the best news i heard all week. FInally i can play JWE again, i took a break after beating the campain in like 3 days straight and now i can't wait to return! Thank you so much for leasing to us!!

Great! But still a long way to making this game a great game. Since the Giganotosaurus model should be updated and made more scientifically accurate. The one other thing I would like to see fixed would be the size of the Indominus rex.

It's a good start, and I know more will be detailed in the official notes.
Can we eventually get a natural day/night light cycle? One you don't have to unlock preferably.

Ideas

Was hoping for more added content im a massive jurassic park fan and would love to see the tour cars added to the game and more original content so you could have the chance to recreate the original jurassic park island

I'm going to enjoy some of these new additions.

I'm a little disappointed that the ability to walk around your park as a visitor isn't "in" though.

I'm surprised the option to change weather on the fly wasn't added alongside the dusk/dawn/day/night options.

Perhaps next update?

Pleeease?

The update is a gigantic improvement. Very happy that Frontier has listened to the community and has improved the Sandbox Mode as he so often I requested. I did not expect the Challenge Mode, it was a pleasant surprise.

Frontier, you just missed one more option to make the perfect sandbox mode and it was to activate / deactivate the option of to start from scratch with the excavation sites (having to get all the dinosaurs back, but this time all available to dig in Nublar) and have to re-investigate all the improvements in the research center .

Those two options is what the sandbox mode lacks to make it practically perfect.
