ok on addressing this insurance perk, what about an optional offer to alphas?

something like you can voluntarily give up the perk and instead have something from a short list of options,

say a snazzy unique alpha skin for your ship
or
naming a world? I'm mean there a 400 billion systems to go around

I am open to the idea. But if it means more work for FD which would distract from getting the game live, then I'd rather they leave it. If it can be worked in as part of existing development with little or no impact, then that's fine.

We are unlikely to get planets named after us, but I think there is scope for stations and planetary space ports and other points of interest that could possibly be worked into it.

Sorry to change the subject but what do you guys think about Limit theory? I admire the guy for doing this all on his own but it does look like a "menu version" of elite, meaning that on the guys update all I see are menus and interfaces, no cockpit, no immersion

Check out this thread for info and discussion on Limit Theory:

My own opinion is it is looking very slick. A lot of the menus and stuff are very pretty and look very easy to navigate. I do however think there will be a solid game in behind all that which he is working on at present. I'm kind of glad he isn't doing cockpits as such because it will be nice to have something different to play. I'm hopeful that LT will be one of the sleeper hits of the year (or next year depending on when it comes out!)

Just saw some reviews of zoo tycoon (since it looked so nice) they are horrible. Shame on frontier for not releasing a pc version.

As Philip said we have a thread on that and a whole section on Zoo tycoon, if you want to discuss those games you can in the right section/threads. :)

So, back on topic. :D

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
You are correct. It is.

No, it is not.

Deliberately going off topic or derailing a thread is contrary to forum rules.

[*]Off-topic
Going off-topic in an ongoing, on-topic discussion is defined as talking about something completely unrelated to the ongoing discussion or debate within the thread. Off-topic also includes replies created to topics for the sole purpose of ganging up on other members or groups of users.

You are correct. It is.

To prove it, here is a pygmy jerboa -- the cutest animal on the planet.
Part mouse, part kangaroo. It is also in no way related to gaming.

But, what about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkF7gGjdgag

OK, maybe the jerboa takes the prize.

Hello guys and gals. Welcome to the UEE Refugees' thread! In here feel free to discuss anything related to Star Citizen, Elite Dangerous, general gaming, or just talk about the excellent waffle you had for breakfast. The Star Citizen thread is still in the Sci-Fi Games section for in-depth discussion of major events and gameplay. Please keep patch notes in that section. Complaining about the latest ship sale based on concept art, however, is always allowed.

Edit: to clarify, that means general discussion about whatever you want. Nothing is off-topic in this thread, as there is no topic. The commonality is that most of us are expatriated from the UUE.

(Disclosure: I am a backer of both ED and SC, and hope both succeed. That said, I do find things in the SC universe to be a bit shakey and am more worried about that project turning out as-promised than I am about ED.)

Thought maybe we needed this dropped back in, as the first page is a way back. This thread was originally in the "Off Topic, general gaming" section. It was moved to the sci-fi section by mods because, as backers of both ED and SC, our discussion does tend to be mostly about sci-fi games. It is not limited to this though. There has also been a fair amount of discussion about breakfast foods.

I was saying that about having my comment edited as (off-topic) by the mods.

That is pretty darn cute.

Oh, I missed that. And yes. Off topic was part of the on topic as I recall. And quite necessarily from time to time to break up the heavy monotony of:

[knocking SC]
[knocking ED]
[knocking SC]
[knocking ED]
[knocking SC]
[knocking ED]
[knocking SC]
[knocking ED]
