DayZ clone? I dunno just bought it because I love huge maps with lots of exploration. Hey FDev just saying. Downloading lets get after it.

"Survival" games inevitably become deathmatch with food.

Isn't it about time someone reinvented the genre and created something truly unique instead of desperately clawing at the DayZ teat for the last dregs!?

It's good. Yes it's a DayZ clone but with an engine that is capable. The mechanics are great, so much to consider. There is a single player option too. So far it runs well on my i5 2500K too. Everything high at 1080. Arma fans will probably interested if they like DayZ. N

As long as you can turn the "battle royale" mode off, it might not be bad. I don't mind survival games, nor zombie games. I do mind any kind of competitive gameplay, though.

Look potentially interesting if the single player game is decent. I want a decent survival game that isn't all about collecting sticks, not really interested in multiplayer though. At the moment I keep returning to modded versions of Stalker for that fix because nothing else comes close

I bought this, finding it fun so far. You can completely ignore crafting which is a major bonus for me :D

There is stuff to do single player, there are bunkers protected by mechs that you can raid to get the best gear, they are supposed to be expanding the single player stuff with NPC factions etc.

I always wanted a single player version of DayZ, this seams to be it. However early access is really boring now, and dayZ has been in Early access forever!!!

I have to say it looks really nice, graphically. Definitely in comparison to its counterparts.

Unfortunately after seeing some videos, it's exactly the type of gameplay that "doesn't speak to me".
Maybe it will be one of those games I don't really play, but from time to time I watch someone's let's play for the giggles.

I prefer melons.

In fact the ludicrously complex survival system actually tracks what vitamins you've been eating, so it's important to get some fruit if you want to keep those in the green. Not sure if this has any effect, maybe a slight effect on stamina regeneration or something?

I feel like this game is late to the market, by like 3 years. Seriously, this genre is pretty much exhausted. I can see how single player mode can attract some players but in terms of multiplayer it's just a worse DayZ.

Maybe a lack of Vitamin D leads to Rickets, which in turn leads to a debuff on your movement speed.

Looking at the UI for this thing, which even tracks your number of teeth, that wouldn't surprise me in the least.

It seems that the market disagrees, imho, there is still a market for such a game, specially after DayZ never delivered on its promises.
Right now SCUM ranks in the top 15 Steam Games while Dayz lies dead in the water at 196th in Steam charts.
I don't know for sure, but imho, it's the game DelayZ wanted to be and that's why the people bought it.
If the game can be the successor of DayZ remains to be seen, but it looks like it will outsell DayZ by a countrymile if the trend continues.
