Iridescent paint jobs In the store.[ENDED]

Am I the only one irked by Frontier's dropping of content, followed by amusing choice to meme the hell out of said update yet also noticing the iridescent paint jobs and having a bit of an existential crises over rewarding the reduction in Q4 content, by spending money in the store for annoyingly okay paint jobs?

Why. Why do they do this. It's unreasonable. I have resisted. But it is difficult.
I’m positive Frontier didn’t plan it this way. Shooting ones self in the foot is traditional Britishness at its best. o7
But I won’t deny myself what is one of the best metallic paints produced so far.

Flimley

I am still struggling.

If I concede, where do you think the paintjob looks better?
On large and flat surfaces (Krait) or on rounded ones (Imperial ships, in particular the iCurier in my case)?
I am undecided ...

Restricting these to a week seems unnecessarily arbitrary.

i'm not sure about necessity, but it's definitely not arbitrary.

if you don't like it, don't fall for it. i know, i know, tough call ...

Yes, definitely not arbitrary. Supply and demand - "These paint-jobs are rare and highly coveted because..." [rolleyes] One of the oldest tricks in the capitalist handbook. These iridescent ones are an easy pass for me though, a little too ostentatious and showy for my taste (I didn't say tacky... oh no ;)).

That said, I’ve always wanted to name a ship “The Liberace”, so perhaps these provide the perfect opportunity. :D

Multifaceted flat, IMO. The effect changes from one angle to another, so it works best to show that off.

Don't get me wrong, I think the effect works rather well with the rounded ships too, just not quite as well.

Check out this video posted by Alec Turner, if you haven't seen it yet...

Thanks for the answers and the movie (which is great ... but I think, in order to be able to appreciate the play of colors, one has to be able to turn the ship oneself)!

It stays complicated.
The paint shop looks great on the Alliance ships (many facets, just as WR3ND recommended) - but I somehow don't like the ships.
The Krait looks awesome, too - but there is the nice "Pharao" collection, which is also cheaper.
And while I get the idea that all colors are visible on rounded surfaces at the same time, the rotating Clipper doesn't convince me (but I like the purple variant least so my judgement is biased.)

You know what'd be cool ... if cosmetic purchases had a cooling off period. So, you have 24hrs to decide if you like it. If you don't then you have the option within that period to exchange what you've bought for store credit. I can't see Frontier ever doing this mind you ... bit it would be neat tho.

Decided to buy one of each paint job for all the ships I have or plan to have, too bad they didn't make one for the Dolphin. So for today that will be the iEagle and for the future the Imperial Clipper, Alliance Crusader, and someday the Imperial Cutter. Not normally a fan of huge ships but the Cutter reminds me of a Whitestar ship so I needs it.

At the very least, the ability to preview paintjobs, decals, and body kits in the outfitting section would be nice.

Nope.

I did the same.

My wallet is closed for them.

Period.

Bring me what you have promised first.

Hmm - even bought a full set for a Cutter I don't even own yet... Job done FD. #lostcause

I did that too. I'm gonna have a beautiful awesome Imperial Cutter in irridescent gold!

Though my reputation with the empire at the moment is Cordial and my rank is Outsider.

Hey, I like to plan ahead :p.
