Criminal activity has been spiking for a couple months.

One of our neighbours got kidnapped a few days ago. She fits the profile of the last 3 cases, attractive and fair complexioned. The camera footage showed 2 men in police tac gear taking her, which is pretty much the standard MO of kidnapping gangs locally.
The last bust netted a team of guys from the Regiment, working for criminal gangs, using military hardware.

I have to do coverage at a nearby hospital, in the night, which puts the girls at home (same profile) at increased risk. Not that my old body can stop a military tac team. They would be a foot taller, 50 pounds heavier and 30 years younger with assault weapons. Some of them might have trained at my old dojo, though hopefully not. Came home early, told the medical staff to lock up the gates.

Almost no traffic on the road, as everybody is locking down, so I'm betting no patients turn up.

We have a brand new Police Commissioner, who is a former Army Captain and a guy that I know.
He's clean. Combatives style fighter. But he maybe needs Batman, given the corruption.
He's built an Untouchables team, and they retrieved Natalie a couple hours ago, so arrests should
follow.

Later last night, the Express was told two police constables from the Southern Division and a special reserve policeman (SRP) are in custody and being questioned in connection with the kidnapping.

Well no cases came in to the hospital last night either- but maybe things will get back to normal as the Police Force gets cleaned up by the new Commish.

Robin, that’s trully awful and must be intensely stressful. I do empathise somewhat (have lived in unbelievable circumstances myself) is relocating you and your family an option ?

Maybe.
Maybe it's a slavery thing, going by the profiles. There's a lot of that going on with the Venezuelan refugee exodus going up the islands, and if a team goes a bit short on their quota they might grab local girls. Not sure where the victims end up, but the local places I know of have been recently raided and cleaned out.

Economic activity in the area seems restored in the daytime, as this tac team is now neutralized. Let's see if Gary can go up the criminal chain, because the top is probably not in the Force. I'm off duty next few days anyway, and we have private security organized.

As the ripples of the bust spreads through the island, perceptions of the capacity of the police force have changed dramatically. The population has been without confidence in Law Enforcement for years. That's not so today.

It's almost unheard of for violent criminal suspects to just give up. This suggests a degree of demoralization both among the external criminal element and the corrupt units serving in the Police.
It's a real PR coup for the Commissioner, and he's leveraging his capital. He's asked for a bit of time, as part one of the plan is to clean the Force. 20 new Sargeants got elevated last week.

I'm still traveling with self defense equipment, but now when I see police it finally feels like we're on the same side.
