Ship Builds & Load Outs Please look at my first real ship build

how about: https://s.orbis.zone/dx-

I took your suggestions and this lets me keep some of my extra's and similar performance (pre-engineering)

You appear to have lost your Frame Shift Wake scanner. Using a DBX would allow for the use of some weapons with comparable performance and significantly lower cost. Leave off the cargo rack, cargo attracts pirates, the risk vs. reward is usually not good. You probably won't need an AFMU, even the road to riches is not a very long trip, that slot could fit a fuel tank and you are going to want a shield.

or: https://s.orbis.zone/dy2 this looks decent

yes but without cargo, I will not be able to deliver items to engineers, but for purely r to r it's the best

Fit a cargo rack when you need it, leave it off when you do not. Having a cargo rack will tempt you to scavenge cargo found laying about which will attract pirates which is something you really do not want to do.

Without a cargo rack fitted, your ship will simply not allow you to pick up stuff you find laying around. Remember also that as you move forward in the gamer, collecting and selling exploration data and as your skills and experience increase, your credit balance will increase too, allowing you to upgrade your ships and purchase larger ships with more capacity and capability.

yes for the wake scanner that's because I need to scan wakes for those things for martuuk to give her. d rating everything I can makes a lot of sense though. and damn that build is way better... i want the srv though just for fun. and are you sure the power pip thing that is 2d will be sufficient?

This is the build I suggest.
It has an SRV and 4A PD.
I only suggest D rating the life support and sensors, and if you're concerned about mass the thrusters too.

Mats don't need cargo sapce.
Use the c6 for the fuel scoop for RTR.
Shields will be WAY better than an AMFU if you're using an SRV, ie landing on planets.

Nice, but I do not think the OP has access to the mods for it. Which Engineers do you have access to, OP?

Yes, OP has Martuuk.

Felicity Farseer is relatively easy to unlock, all you need is "scout" exploration rank and a single meta-alloy. You can fly to Hyades sector AQ-Y D81 system, planet c2 (third star, second planet and yes, it is a 10 minute slog to get there), coordinates 9.29/-153.92, only half the distance to Maia system where most CMDRs buy meta-alloys and here, you get the meta-alloy for free. The trip out and back, scanning each system along the way with the ADS will probably get you scout rank as well. Once invited sell any exploration data directly to Felicity, she is also an explorer and it gives you higher REP with her. Make sure to take a SRV and a cargo rack, just shoot a "fat" pod off one of the barnacle spikes. It will identify as "mining fragment" or some such but once transferred to your ship it will be listed in your cargo inventory as a meta-alloy. You will know when you have hit "scout" rank because you will get a message (invitation) from Felicity.

None, i need to deliver 3 ancient things to martuuk then i can use her, but thats all i know of

You need Soontil Relics. Not ancient, but a rare commodity. They are available for purchase at Cheranovsky City, NGURII system. You also need to have traveled at least 300 LY from your system of in-game origin. Have you done that? Check your stats in the right-hand panel.

I got my first real ship build
Found it on the internet
Flew it 'til my hands cramped up
Why can't I "git gud" yet?

Me and my newbie wing
Hit a RES and we fought real hard
Jimmy logged, Jody got blasted
Shoulda run, but it's how things are

Oh, when I go back now
The upgrades seemed to take forever
And if I'd had the choice
Yeah, I'd have gone to solo
Those were the best days of my life

etc... with apologies to Bryan Adams and to anyone reading this.

That would be a good first step since having more jump range makes everything easier.

Nothing wrong with that.

allright so i've been exploring. i got invited to farseer so i'm going to maia to buy meta alloy

Im sleepy

Now, im using the aspx build u guys suggested. What are the important things to engineer? So far i have fsd range 1

Make sure it's a 5A FSD, and add the mass manager experimental effect asap.
"Pin" that blueprint and work on getting to G5.

That way you can finish without returning.

Always do the experimental right away at G1 and pin the blueprint to finish later.

The most important ones I'd suggest after that are,
For Farseer:
Dirty Drives/Drag Drives
Lightweight sensors

You might want to do long range for the Detailed Surface Scanner, for the RTR.
Fast scan is ok too.
You don't need to do the powerplant, but you can use armored and monstered to "future proof" a little.

If you want to use shield boosters the most useful are heavy duty and resistance augmented, but that's also extra at this point..

For Martuuk:
Thermal resistant shield generator with lo-draw

for the planet scans, fast scan sounds good. wide scan, it might make it easier to do the star before i hyperdrive out on a multi-jump trip? long scan is obviously good but 200%, what range is that?

If you like flying in SC, which is possible with the handling of the ASP, fast scan is a valid choice. Especially if you want to scan everything, such as the small moons of gas giants. Long range is however more interesting IMO because you don't need to move from the star to scan most bodies up to 150 Ls. And as telluric bodies are generally paying quite good and located close to the star, I believe it is more efficient. I tried both for thousands of Ly and currently prefering the long range over the fast scan, even with nimble ships. But as I said, it is a matter of personal preferences.

Wide seems pretty useless tbh.
The distance and speed depends on the body mass/size.
You'll be able to target a star from much further than a small moon with both.

If you are just targeting a star that's already in range the fast scan will be way better.
If you are flying around a system the long range might be better since you won't have to get as close, meaning you won't get slowed down by the gravity wells.

I wouldn't worry about that one too much.
The other mods are more important.
