Opinions on combat logging

I dont play anymore since the engineers drove me away, but i just dont see why some people get upset about combat logging. If someone combat logs, they bought the software and its their right to terminate the executable when and how they want to.
In addition combat logging seems to me a sane and reasonable response to absolutely deplorable game design. FD created the combat logging problem, (if there is one, i have never done it and im not sure i have seen anyone do it) with the engineers. What ever steps they take concerning combat logging is FD punishing players for FD's incompetence.

So you engaged each of these ships you're referring to individually, and they stopped taking damage and disappeared after 15 sec. Yes?

Again- just clarifying.

As a side note I've seen similar behavior with NPC's bugging out in combat, too- except they don't disappear, they just completely reset.
Yep. They sometimes even type in smarmy (spelling?) remarks that likely violate some rule somewhere, then they are invincible for ~15 seconds (didn't actually time it every kill), which, upon realization of said invincibility, I leave.

I just found it pretty rediculous that at least 4 of those 15 had fighter bays installed, but didn't even launch.

As a side note: When someone combat logs via task kill, they log back in to a ship status equal to ~30 seconds before they logged. ie: full health and shields. Even if you leave them at 1% hull as the task kill, they will log back to full health and shields. THAT is the real difference in menu logging vs task killing to me.

Sure use them, but you can't expect replacements.

Eh?
So you can't buy the ships again?
Ones RPG is ones own fantasy which is set out in the context and (most importantly) rule set of the game.
Making these weapons and modules a 'reward' for being part of a power was another stupid decision by FD but to compare this to the concept of cheating is cringe worthy.

But will Stalin replace your gear once you allied to Hitler?
Nah, Hitler just sends the reverse engineered blueprint to Poland and they make my new ones.

Reminds me of my time working for the government lol...
I actually agree, just providing information from personal experience and hopfully showing how we shouldn't trust random %'s thrown about without study parameters.

I just can't stop commenting on this thread largely for personal amusement... which shows how sad I am...

Probably, but it'd be a crap copy, and then everyone on that side would have it.
Basically, if you leave a faction you should lose replacements of their specialist gear... If they are diametrically opposite, lose all ranks too instantly.

Sounds like you are making a platform for an RP server on Elite lol. Brings back memories of WoW days on RP realms. How I learned not to go to the Barrens at night.... *shiver*

And in defecting you lose the benefits... Not right away... You can keep what you have, but if you get blown up, where do you get the replacement from.

Lol skill.. Flying a Reaper drone is skill, pressing a key on your pc or Xbox is um...
A skill is developed in anything that you repeat, either through talent or muscle memory...

Cooks are skilled, developers are skilled, architects are skilled, binmen are skilled. Athletes, soldiers, mechanics you name it. Pretty much anything beyond basic human functions.

It's literally just the ability to do something well... hence skill caps in games, and divisions in leagues... this is pretty reaching.

That might be fun tbh, but I wouldn't know where to start... Second Life sims (or more free analogues), a life is strange private server?

You're right of course... It really desk ills the idea of skill, doesn't it.

Lol no clue. I know a few players that would be all over an Elite RP server... like intense 'I got a background that is 28 pages long' kinda RP... Yes I'm talking about you Phisto...

The bold is the important part.
They are insured.

It's relative.
This game has seeker missiles and gimbals.
Enforcers are still a c1 weapon, and fixed at that.

If those are cheating so is flying a Cutter, lol.
