I forgot to put my handbrake on once, and the car rolled into another parked car. Did pretty much zero damage to mine. The other car however.......£1300 for a new rear door.

That's always the way. :)

Mine just decided to say hello to a 9" post just down the road, thankfully didn't hit anything or one else.

£500 excess... ouch.

My step-dad had a habit of just parking with the car in gear. He just walked in and there was a banging on the the door. A neighbour pointed to his Triumph TR4, which was now about 20 houses down the steep hill we lived on; just as it hit a telegraph pole. That was the only time I saw him cry.

Uh oh....reversed my Scoob into my gate couple of months back 'cus the wind caught it and half shut it while I wasn't looking - scratch on rear bumper and a chunk out of spoiler...result £450 poorer :(

Lookin at £1500 minimum there I reckon TJ, or pay the £500 excess on yer insurance and watch the premium go up next year (if yer fully comp).

Bad luck fella, I knows how you are feelin' [ugh]

Edit : It WAS T.J's fault [yesnod]

So to update you lovely lot.

The oh so nice insurance company wrote my poor baby off they said £5500 worth of damage!!!!! my reply is unfit for the forum, so after some shenanigans, threats, sulks and hard negotiation they coughed up some money one last round of me blaming coutts I got this last week.

My gf locked my car keys last night and I lost the spare years ago so I have to try to break in. I hope none of the dental patients 3 houses down the driveway see me and call the cops. Going to carry my papers just in case.

Call a locksmith it's less damage and therefore cheaper, some cops will know how to help for free and you can always engage the services of a passing miscreant relatively cheaply as they won't charge you VAT.

Only way to unlock the door is to push the unlock button all the way down but the metal rod a friend gave me is only meant to grab the inner door handle as its curved on the bottom sliding off easily on the button. Could of used it to grab the keys and slide it through the door but I didnt think of that so I guess thats a possible solution tomorrow but thanks.

Now I see why thiefs in NYC prefer to just break open windows.
