General Gameplay Dinosaurs can attack the ranger team

Your Feature Request / Idea

I know that it is a topic that has already been touched on other occasions, but I must and I need to add it to this thread of ideas and suggestions.

While it is true that the ranger team has a fundamental task, maintaining the safety of the park (in conjunction with the helicopter), for the same reason that they have to be close to the dinosaurs to act, it is entirely logical that the dinosaurs, both herbivores and carnivores feel threatened, so it is necessary to implement this variant in the game in which they can attack destroy and / or kill the occupants of the jeep, in this way, feel the constant insecurity when going to situations that put in danger to visitors. In the same way if the occupants of the jeeps are destroyed or killed, there should be a penalty in money and in the security section of the park (Facilities Score)

What I'm going to ask now I think it's very difficult to implement, but I remember that in the first trailer of the game, the rangers' staff was repairing a fence, that sequence and that modality made me hallucinate with this game, in a minute not I could believe that this variant was going to be in the game really would be wonderful to be implemented in the game.

Best regards

A response to this topic

This is an excellent idea and could give the game more vitality... But, your grammar needs improvement.

Thank you friend for sharing the same idea and enthusiasm at the moment of wanting to buy this game when it was promoted with the trailer.

You have my 10/5 stars.

I entirely agree, the rangers vehicles should be destructible. The jeep that is, i doubt much can be done to the Helicrapter. Although, if we get flying reptiles then that too.

My suggestion would be that if the jeep is destroyed then the two rangers are forced out of the vehicle and have to hoof it on foot. They will try to make it for the enclosure gates on their own and attempt to get back to the ranger station. They should trigger the doors opening like the vehicle does.

If the ACU rescue feature is implemented, you could try and rescue these poor sods yourself.

Ultimately, you would have to replace the vehicle, so i guess buying another ranger team. Which is good, because it's one more way to introduce some cashflow away from you, use those ungodly heaps of money for something, and now as it is, when you fill your ranger slots you can just forget about that entirely. A nice extra bit of management feedback if you manage your rangers poorly. More involvement is better, even if it creates more to do. The problem with much of what there is to do now is that it's tedious and uninvolved, like the feeder restock thing.

In addition, if my Paleo Flora suggestion is taken in, then you would have much fewer instances of having to force rangers into enclosures, as feeders will not have to be restocked, just plants re-planted, allowing you to circumvent this danger to a degree, if you so wish.

In the case of carnivores, i would add that perhaps it's best to have primarily just hungry or agitated carnivores attack it. Hungry ones could just have it as a potential hunting target, and agitated ones would home in on it like a torpedo if they are in close proximity. Much like Rexy in the original movie. That said, the jeep would like often be fast enough to outrun things, if you're driving it. Except when it has to stop at the gate i guess. But imagine how fun it would be to have to take control of a jeep because a rex is agitated and you floor the pedal with it chasing you behind, and you can hear the massive footsteps and roaring :D

Another announcement trailer fan here! That moment of fence repairing breakout will haunt me for the rest of my life.

I like DavidBlanc's ideas of running drivers, ACU rescue, a way to spend money, and particularly the frequency of attack as a variable of Dino status. To that, I'm thinking of adding a new lifetime satisfaction parameter. It is an average value of comfort level throughout its lifespan. At its optimum value, the frequency of attack should approaches zero.

I've argued for this feature even before release. However, after playing the game myself, I have to say if this happens regularly, it just becomes another chore I want to avoid. Yes, it is fun to be chased once in a while but if it becomes a thing that requires me to regularly click to replace every 20 minutes or so, it will not be fun anymore. Also, as Lora said, it will be a nightmare during storms. Even being indestructible, it is fairly annoying already.

So, to balance things up, additional suggestions:-

- Driver's skills improve with his/her experience. He will have a better AI to stay at a safer distance (or beacon as people have suggested), and able to accelerate the jeep faster (as DavidBlanc said) with his progression.
- During Storms, Dinos already gone mad, a holding pen would be logical to keep the Dinos safe from Tornado as well. Only aggressive/agitated Dinos may go rogue.
- Automated ACU air support, following and protecting the ranger jeep, if it gets attacked.
- As mentioned above, a lifetime satisfaction meter can be applied.
- An option to adjust the vehicle attack difficulty in sandbox.
- To spice things up, additional missions which require one to drive the jeep to perform dangerous tasks can be added. Of course, the attacking difficulty is made to the highest possible. I believe this feature is awesome to be played once for a while but certainly not on a regular basis.

In sum, 5-Stars rated. I still want this feature to be added despite the mentioned chores.

oooh yeah! :D

Imagine the thrill of driving around the park if the large dinosaurs could knock the jeep over, tossing the passengers out to run for shelter, or if small carnivores could pluck the rangers out when allowed to get too close. The vehicle would then remain stationary until a transport team picks it up. I know I would explore this to no end.
I would also love it if you could assume control of the armed ranger in the back and leave the vehicle. It would serve as the first person mode so many people have been asking for.

That announcement trailer really did people excited for something like this didn't it, myself included.

I was thinking what could they do if the jeep has to still be indestructible to spice things up? Maybe as a compromise they could have large carnivores grab the roof bar in their jaws and throw you away. Small ones could mount the jeep and you have to drive side to side and brake sharply to shake them off?

the current system of resupplying feeders for carnivores is stupidity incarnate ..... it should be suicide for anyone to go in the carnivore enclosure

feeding the carnivores should work completely different since carnivores and herbivores are not the same.

first of all healing the carnivores should be done by helicopter, if u tranquilize them by helicopter there's no reason you shouldn't be able to heal them the same way since all you do is shoot them with a needle

as for feeding them it should be done either by crane, helicopter, special vehicle, or automatic feeders., pretty much anything that doesn't involve driving a jeep in there while the carnivores are just walking around is better

the devs are clever people i'm sure they can figure something out .....removing stupidity from the game should be a number 1 priority

it completely ruins any trace of immersion when u can just drive a car in there and the mighty Trex just walks by like... " nice to see you guys, thanks for the food"

this suppose to be jurassic park not jurassic disney....in jurassic park you don't go in the carnivore enclosure while a Trex is in there. period.

good idea for feeding the carnivores: a helicopter that drops a bunch of meat and a bunch of goats in the enclosure....spare no expenses

OR you introduce and new ranger vehicle in the game which has a crane than can lower goats or meat in the enclosure...

OR you can have a big truck that you can unload goats and meat into the enclosure.

OR you have a special type of fence with two gates where the feeder is placed . like a tiny enclosure just for the feeders where the rangers can resupply them without actually being in danger of being eaten.... wait.. this sounds like something you could actually do yourself

build a tiny enclosure inside the main enclosure with two gates and place the feeder there, the rangers go in and resupply and then you open the other gate for the carnivores to go there and eat.... yeps i'm a genius.. i just solved the unrealistic carnivore feeding..at least technically cause the rangers are not in any danger anyway but for the sake of realism this would be a solution

but for all this to make sense the rangers should be able to get killed by the carnivores otherwise there's no point in doing any of this

the only problem with what you say is that you would no longer be able to give quick commands to the rangers to go by themselves and resupply the feeders since the AI rangers would get killed ....unless you do the method i described by making a tiny enclosure with two gates just for the feeders that way the rangers can resupply without being in danger of getting killed

I like how we are adding the solution to this topic. I believe that following the current modality of the game it would be convenient that the feeder has more quantity of restockings (goats and meat), here we would solve the fact of going
constantly with the rangers. The other solution to replenish the feeder would be that the automatic replenishment action is in this order. The ACU hicoptero can sedate the animal and when this action is effective, the jeep enters the enclosure. And manually, one should go with the helicopter and then with the jeep, as simple as that. (This way we would avoid always being aware of the death of the rangers). Now, another important thing, we know that the helicopter has finite tasks to perform, in that case if we had a mixed enclosure and / or with many dinosaurs that should be sedated, we should be able to have an investigation which gives us the possibility of having a repellent aromatic or sound like in (JPOG) to keep the carnivores and / herbivores at bay, and mentioning this, in JPOG we had dissuasive elements in cases of emergency.

Developers should only worry that jeeps are destructible and rangers can escape or play manually in 1st or 3rd person.

How to prevent that they do not die in the attempt (replenish feeders, fix fences, etc) will be your strategy, your responsibility for how you solve it and not die in the attempt (literally).

Above, they already commented as possible strategies that ranger does not die for carnivores.

nah it makes no sense to sedate the dinos just to resupply the feeders, it's unrealistic and too complicated... might as well just drop meat from the helicopter and eliminate the need for rangers driving in

Actually that is one of the most realistic ways this situation would be handled. That is the first thought i had before i found out that jeeps were invulnerable, that either i need to drive very fast and hope to Raptor Jesus that i dont get attacked, or that id have to sedate the creature to make such a large task that would realistically take some time plausible, because theyre not jsut shoving in one goat, theyre restocking the whole feeder. If you want to talk about realism, yes, lets talk about how a massive predatory animal of the size of the Rex could snag the goat while it's still attached to the helicopter via the lowering cables and cause it to crash. And that would be just one feeding. So no, i disagree with the airdrop and also lets work with existing mechanics not make up new ones to replace otherwise perfectly functional ones that just need tweaking and improving.

I indeed vote that feeders should have their stock increased, maybe doubled, at least in some cases, if jeeps are made destructible. I still suggest that dinosaurs primarily have a high chance of attacking only if theyre hungry or upset, so with decent management you would be able to avoid it even without changing the numbers, but youd still have some chance. For added security, if players want to, they could sedate the dangerous animals before the rangers go in. I think this system would be the most fair and balanced and not turn things into a tedious chore, specifically with the low chance of attack if the animal is satisfied.

Davidblac, your reasoning seems reasonable, I agree with you that the feeders should have more capacity, and that the jeeps of the rangers be attacked only when the dinosaurs are angry and hungry, thank you for your comment.

Here's a suggestion: add armored jeeps that are invulnerable to damage to the list of usable vehicles, so for those of us who don't want the risk (or just be lazy) we can still play like our jeeps are unbreakable.

To be completely honest, the current feeding system makes no real sense... it would be a lot smarter and safer if the feeders were attached to the side of the pens like the various attractions, then zoo keepers wouldn't have to enter the pen at all. Another idea I had was a feeding system similar to how the Indominus rex was fed... food is kept in a feeder outside then pen, then lifted and carried into the pen by cable and dropped into the cage. The setup process would require two steps; placing the feeder on the fence and then placing the drop spot, which would work like placing a power line.

I'm no expert, but I do doubt it would work this way... the tether holding the goat would likely be weak enough so that if a dinosaur did snag the goat it would safely break...

Maybe allow the larger sized carnivores to roll the jeep over (upside down like in the first movie) ONLY when it is under the player's manual control. Immediately after that, the camera switches back to the overhead view and that rover team will be unavailable for further tasking for ___ minute(s).

To prevent the player from cheating death, override the player's command to switch back to A.I. control as long as the jeep remains INSIDE the dino enclosure.

There is no need to simulate the carnivores attack on the rover if the player chooses to assign tasks to the A.I. which will perform reliably to avoid unnecessary micromanagement.

Actually that is one of the most realistic ways this situation would be handled.

no dude ... the most realistic way would be dumping meat over the fence from a big truck... imagine how much money it would cost to sedate a large carnivore every time you gotta feed him not to mention you're risking the health of the animal by keep sedating him .....why do all that when you can just dump a big load of meat over the fence and be done with it
