This Kickstarter for a motion simulator for VR supports ED 100%

Really considering at least the Battle Chair and later upgrading to the full simpod. Seems to be a rather worthwhile investment for entertainment purposes, especially given that some people spend thousands on stereo/TV entertainment systems alone. :)

I'm not "rich" by any means, but I can clearly see the value in such a system.

Totally agree. The Battle-station is excellent value for your money, and even more so at super early bird price! Still 17 left I think? The battle station is a sweet setup!

I just built my own "battle station" of reclaimed wood and a $20 very well used Sparco R100 carseat. ;-) My R100 seat will stay with me when my Fellthree sim arrives.

I am far from rich, but have a decent job and found some money under the mattress. $2500 for this setup is cheap. I see it as a "once in a lifetime" opportunity, to get such a sim at these prices. At full price, it is out of my price range. So I was all in, right from the start. :-D

Oh Indeed, I sincerely believe that if you want something badly enough you don't need to be rich - you find a way. Hence the fact that I have a 1080, an i7 7700k, and have and an Oculus, Vive and Vive Pro, and am not rich at all.

But £2500 is quite far from something I'd be able to a) convince the wife and b) actually find the money even with a lot of determination, so it would be very helpful to find some alternative income stream! At least temporarily.

But determined I am, let's see.

ahem, currently £1,999 ....at a 50% discount.... and if you're not quick the early birds might be gone.

You can always pledge and then cancel :)

Seats are £60 on ebay, including delivery..... or would you rather pay more to make it worth selling them on the Kickstarter.

Can the YawVR do this?

:)

No, but then it's about 4 times the size of the Yaw VR and you can't pack that away and stick it in a corner under a table or where ever. It would require a sizeable chunk of living space to be permanently allocated to it. It is a BIG piece of kit. I'm not knocking its abilities, as it's quite impressive looking. All I'm trying to say is, I just can't see it being very practical for your average home user, unlike the Yaw VR.

I did consider the yawvr, but when a yawvr pro cost the same as the super early bird Feelthree, there was really nothing to consider for me. Its larger, so had to look for space. Its still 8-9 years until our oldest daugther moves out, so her room was a no go. Could limit yaw and pitch and put it in the attic, ended up with finding space in the garage for a new gaming room. ;-) 2.5x4.5 meter and I will have ok roomscale VR and Feelthree side by side.

Yes. it's not Elite but we had to get the wheel working... Will try to get some better ED videos up now we've worked out some kinks :)

I want to redeem myself in Arena :p

I’m not sure how G-force of earth is properly translated into space sim acceleration G-forces, so just wondering being still sceptical...

At least you get up to 1g - and I suspect no gamer have experienced a real space-fight so cant really compare to the real thing. ;-)

feelthree should be the top choice of sim if you want g-forces. actuator sims have a limited range of movement, and less simuaklted g-forces I would think?

One thing that folks aren't taking into account is that motion simulators might actually make you a worse player. I imagine that one would be "force" shy when doing insane rolls and loops. Your body is naturally going to avoid doing unpleasant things - i.e. g-forces. ;)

or.. the flying feels more intiutive and easier? ;-) I dont know, but looking forward to find out for myself. ;-)

well I'm not too deep into the trivia around the ED world and ships and if those would generate gravitation. But atm i think we should have Zero-G standing still. Then such a seat could only provide positive Gs, while i usually take the shortest move and roll negative Gs or sideways whenever it's a shorter move. Depending on acceleration these should all be rather small Gs, no?
Something that's put on top in a weird way is not what i would spend money for. I think for racing SIMs such a thing could be a good fit, but for space and flight SIMs I'm not convinced.

Its not that worlds generate gravitation, and I guess we can assume (?) no artificial gravitation on the ships.
Its the interia of your own body - when the ship accelerate (straight forward, sideays, up/down, dogde etc.) you do feel those g-forces by the ship pushes you around, even in space. In combat a figther move with such speeds that the g-forces you would experience should be rather extreme.

g-forces experience in space will be equal to that a fighter pilot experience on earth
