Fortnite

Fortnite, the game that you can ask literally anyone in the world and they either play it, know someone who does, or at the very least has heard of it. But let’s be honest here, fortnite is a waste of time. But while we’re being honest here, the only reason I hate fortnite is because everyone else in The word loves it. The one thing that fortnite does better than any game like it is that the only adavantages is experience and skill. That one 7 year old who’s mom buys him everything isn’t gonna have an advantage over the teen who doesn’t P2P (like myself). I’d like to hear everyone’s hate/love for fortnite

Btw, I fully expect to wake up tomorrow to find that this thread has hit the limit on posts

Post limit in a fortnite thread? On this forum? Hah, please :D
I personally couldn't care less for fortnite. It took genre by storm, it just so happens that I think this genre exhausted itself about 1 year after that famous arma mod came out...You know. The one that ACTUALLY started the genre.

Can't say I've ever taken any interest in the game.

But yes; I am more interested in games that require experience and skill.

Pay2Win doesn't grab me at all.

I downloaded it on my new phone.

Then deleted it without playing. Lol

I quite enjoy PUBG mobile. Never seem to win a match though. Got to 2nd once. Quite impressed. Lol

Fortnite just looks dull.

I usually hate trendy things on principle, but when comes to the games, I tend to give everything a go.

But Fortnite's gameplay is so utterly stupid and repetitive that I gave up after two matches.
I really have no idea why so many people like it, but my best guess is that the humanity simply IS that stupid that they consider things like Fortnite fun.

I don't know. Shooting bottles in the back yard for the whole afternoon is something I'd consider a stupid way of having fun, but I'd still rather did that than played Fortnite.

grind2win isn't really that much better. btw fortnite is not pay2win, it's pay2fashion (just like elite) except hugely successful.

i've played it, it's a well done game and a good model, but not really my thing. i would say the incredible success is that it just ticked with the twitch culture, which in turn has enormous promotional potential. epic had been trying very hard with paragon, which imo is a more interesting game but never took off and had to be cancelled. imo the skill tree (all wildly different iterations) was always too complex. fortnite seems to have the right mix of drop-in fun, simple mechanics and appeal, and just was lucky to hit the right audience. they are making obscene amounts of money just for skins so people can show them off on twitch.

Fortnite is just the shooter flavor of the week. It'll be gone in a couple years, replaced by the next big thing. It is the way things go.

My kids and all their friends play Fortnite. They begged me to play a duo with them (because they wanted to watch me fail) so I agreed. We got top 10 in the first match and won the second. They were disappointed that I wasn't completely horrible at it.

I decided it wasn't for me after those two matches. I need a game that makes me feel like an utter failure for hours at a time and only rewards me after I have completely given up and my soul has been crushed. Like USS hunting and Materials gathering in ED.

So is Warframe if you want to play it for free. But still, you can pay money and get higher end weapons but only when you have Mastery...... and Mastery Rankingin that game only comes with skill and competence. So I'm playing it for free and it takes some time and some grind yes; but until you get skills you can't progress.

It's highly enjoyable, challenging and frustrating (sometimes all at once!) but I'm really digging the gameplay.

Hold on, are you talking about Battle Royale or Save the World? I presume the former. My kids love Battle Royale, especially my son who tries to get to level 100 every season (he managed it last season).

By the way, there is no pay to win in BR (or STW for that matter really), its all pay for cosmetics, and you don't even need to pay if you play STW and farm vBucks there. For BR all you need to really pay for is the season pass upgrade, which IIRC is less than 1000 VB. You can get that by doing your dailies in STW for 20 days, takes no more than an hour usually to do your dailies, less if you get lucky.

STW is what i play. I find the PvE coop gameplay a lot more fun, building your base and working together to defend against the husks.

It is grindy, very very very very grindy. The whole game revolves around the grind, but its also good fun, if you like that sort of thing.

However, please don't conflate BR with STW, they are very different games.

I've often felt I should give it a go but I think I'd be rubbish. Apex Legends is about as good as it gets for me right now anyway.

I downloaded Fortnite at the behest of my seven year old daughter. We play it sparingly but I think its fun and pretty cool for a free game. I would never spend money on the shop. I also find the building to be annoying. Good people seem to be able to build flawlessly as they dodge and fight and it gets to be pretty ridiculous. I don't bother with the building when I play because its a big turn off.

Its not the type of game I am into and only fire it up when she wants to play but I can see the appeal for younger kids.

There should be segregation for over 18s. Not least to save the humiliation to losing to a 7 year old girl.

The new hero system in Save the World is quite an improvement i think. You can really customize your abilities now.

The hero screen can look erm... rather suggestive as well.

In other news, for the first time ever, i've bought the battle pass (for free real money, i earn vbucks via StW) as my son is really begging me to play with him BR... not my thing, but hey, father-son bonding.
