You can TRADE with other players?

I thought we should be able to jettison a "special cargo" just for Pirates. Something with about 50lbs of C4 on a timer or proximity detector.

"Scoop this mister Pirate!" ha ha ha *B O O M *

Always give a cargo of slaves to the pirates. Because the slaves thrown into space, are transformed into fertilizer

:)

That should so be available as an option. ‘Booby trap & Jettison’ should be right there next to ‘Jettison’.

It's probably already in the DDA, of course. ;)

That's not how Elite works... if you blow them up there will be nothing left for you to take.

The ONLY way for you to get ANY loot from someone as a pirate is by forcing them to drop cargo.

The fact that destroying a ship leaves NO loot makes piracy much more challenging than in games like EVE.

Not true. Just a few minutes ago I destroyed a Lakon 6 and looted 8 tons of Coltran. I targeted his cargo hatch.

Never give a pirate cargo under any circumstances. Run or fight, never give in.

Ha ha ha, have some rep.

I figured on carrying one canister of Mineral Oil at all times.

That way, if someone demands my cargo, I can jettison said canister and then explain how and where to apply this commodity to their vessel.

Then... happily tell them where they can stick their ship and its many weapons platforms.

After that, I'll probably get what's coming to me.

I hope player trading is limited to within stations/outposts etc and not ship to ship or you'll get pirates demanding cargo be traded to them rather than just jettisoning it... that will just make traders much more attractive targets as suddenly their "booty" will be worth twice as much and won't attract police attention.

As I understand it, prices are not set by the player, so a pirate would need to purchase the goods. this is to prevent farming by other players for cash outside the game.

Slim

Bio- waste is a much more appropriate gift :p

If that's the attitude I will just blow them up and take whatever is left, no big deal for me, but a much larger setback for the trader losing all cargo/ship/missions/bounties rather than drop a few containers.

If thats the attitude, sniff sniff...then Im gonna, well I outta!!..sniff...bwaaaaa ;P

Only after some time. If you're quick enough (i.e., within a few minutes), the slaves stay alive.

They sell for over 9000 Cr on the black market... yummy.

Being a softy and an idealist I would very much like the option to set the slaves free. I would love to make a career out of that in the Elite universe.

A very long time ago I did a proposal about this. I hope FD will add missions and options to liberate slaves.

How?

msg too short msg too short msg too short msg too short msg too short

Yes according to the DDF it will be possible in the future. You will be able to trade goods, but also information, for example exploration data.

Player to Player Trading
Players can trade directly with each other
The player trade interface is available when both players are docked at the same market
The player trade interface is available when two players dock ships
The player trade interface is a secure swap allowing players to transfer credits/cargo
Both players must accept the trade before it occurs
Acceptance must be redone by both parties after any change in the trade
Trading occurs in real-time and can be interrupted (for example by being attacked) unless taking place at a space dock
Either player can cancel the trade at any time up to the point both agree

Players can sell information they have gathered to other players as well as authorities. This is done through a trade interface similar to the trade goods trading interface. Players can sell hyperspace routes from their location to any single system they have explored to. The purchasing player then offers a price (this can be 0 if it is a gift), and if both players are satisfied they agree to the trade. Players can also trade in system data including locations of points of interest using the same method.

Afaik the DDA has one about their plans for slavery, which most certainly includes setting them free (although Imperial slaves are planned to occasionally be a bit miffed about being set free)
