Playing other games for 2 weeks

+Rep

I think Elite is definitely the best multiplayer space ship flying game on the market today!

As far as shooters, having finished Destiny 2 I'm looking forward to Anthem ;-)

I was never the type of gamer that just can play one game for months.

Sometimes I play ED for the whole week, then it's Conan or Ark or DCS.
For me, breaks from ED occur naturally.

SC still isn't playable for me. I do play a little Blitzkrieg III from time to time, can't find any other good RTS games or anything else that looks interesting... still play Elite regularly.

ED is the ungame

Elite has no story.

Therefore it cannot end!

You see there is a plan :D

You jest, but I've always thought it's better to treat Elite as a toy, not a game. You play with it in whatever way gives you the most satisfaction.

Stop giggling at the back.

(why does 's n i g g e r i n g' get auto-edited to 'sing'?)

I like Elite; but I need more depth to stuff I want to do.
So whilst I wait for new content and expanded careers (exploration is something I'm really looking forward to); I'm playing things like Assassin's Creed Odyssey (what a game!).

I'm getting the HTC Vive soon; so will definitely be playing ED once that beaut lands on my table. :D

Didn't realise AC Odyssey was out yet...I'll have to indulge again since I liked the last one.

I'm currently thinking up a fairytale to explain to the missus how my much needed back tyre for the Harley has magically transformed into a PC game on my bank statement [where is it]

You lucky chap!

I had most of the usual criticism of ED pre-VR but all that vanished when I put on my Rift for the first time. Sort of an epiphany, I was lilke "ahhh so *this* is ED"

I took a break for a while and have been playing GTA V, NMS, Aces High etc. It made me appreciate Elite, it’s far from perfect but it’s still the best game on the market (my opinion).

I've been spending some quality time in Warframe, Destiny 2 and NMS. It's been great. Elite is still really the best there is in the genre it's in; which is it's achilles heel. No competition means Frontier aren't challenged and aren't focused. SC is never actually going to end up being a direct competitor, and that's already assuming Robert's actually intends to have a release that's more than a janky tech demo; and little else exists.

I'm waiting to see how Beta for Update 4 works out. That and checking out X4: Foundations. Because if I need a longer-term parachute, that might be it. Not sure. But choice is good. And anything giving Frontier a bit of a run for their money will make them a little more hungry and a little less inclined to sudden roadmap changes because it pleases them.

I've got way more than my money's worth out of Braben's Elite reboot anyway. So any more time I spend in Elite now, is gravy. Hoping I get to ladle a lot of that gravy in Beta. No pressure, then. ;)

It's out today; but I'm an AC fanboy so I coughed up for the Ultimate Edition and could play three days early. [money][haha]

It's quite different from previous AC's; it's very RPG focused (so the gear you wear changes your appearance etc) and your decisions have meaning (I made a decision early on, and I got notified later on what happened from that decision... I was upset about the outcome. I thought was doing right; but the cost of my interference was very high indeed). It's basically what AC has been needing for a long time, IMHO.

Enjoy it. :)

I actually play other games because I enjoy them :) But ED is having this special place in my heart and mind. There's something fundamentally right about it.

Different even from Origins? I'm intrigued...Steam downloading it now whilst I make my long suffering wife some tea and toast for our 31st anniversary...little does she know she just bought me a present :D

I'm kinda bouncing between four different games at the moment - Elite, Trainz, Spider-Man and Tomb Raider.

Loved Shadow of the Tomb raider...still want to know how Jonah managed the whole adventure without slapping some stupid out of Lara though. Guy has it bad [yesnod]

Disclaimer...I realise the remark was sexist....don't burden me with issues I don't suffer in real life [squeeeee]

I've heard before that ED is a whole other beast in VR. So I'm really eager to check it out.
I tried a demo of the XWing squadron game coming and fell in love. I got dizzy doing a loop and was hooked. If that's what it's like in the demo... then I can only imagine what ED would be like. :D

Its far from the best game on the market, best game in its gene for sure (Ive not played NMS, SC is a pipe dream, and X4 is not out untill next month, and I know there are a few others but cant name them for the life of me.) but wouldnt go as far as saying its better than other games I play :D
