Why do the Crews look so ugly? FD please help!

Hello FD,

I can't help it, it has to go out now: I can't see those ugly faces in the crew lounge anymore! [knocked out]

No matter where you go, always hoping to catch something "pretty" - you get disappointed. Ugliness wherever you look, male or female. I don't want that in my fighter, I want to have either a more realistic (and a bit sexy) looking man or a woman there. FD, you can do that, example is our prevented bride Ms. Aisling Duval!

In our German forum I have started a thread about this topic which was greatly appreciated. Many Cmdrs have contributed and the vast majority agreed with my proposal.

FD, please program pretty looking crews and enable us to design and dress/undress them in "Holo Crew" as well, e.g. matching the Cmdr's outfit. A hot fighter crew member should also be looking hot. They should also be visible in the cockpit on the co-pilot's seat all the time she/he is activated.

FD, I know you can do this easily, please hear my plea - and maybe give me a tiny sign that you have read my lines which come deeply from our hearts!

And - how do others here think about it?

Thank you! :)

I thoroughly second this sentiment from your English space brothers who also want hot crews.

I currently have a ghastly looking pink haired feminist type that wouldn't even get a second look in a prison.

Just having a realistic *range* of crews would be enough for me, but the endless stream of butt-ugly ones has got to stop! Give us mainly average-looking ones and a few hot/ugly ones thrown in as outliers.

I can't even get my holo-me looking good, so either it's me or there really is a fundamental issue with the underlying assets.

But yeah, another vote for better-looking crews, holo-me's, and the various station contacts etc.

I suspect it's because FD lets the RNG do all the work so you end up with these monsters. We need more attractive NPCs and crew members that will also sit in the crew seat. Makes no sense why that seat is empty.

You do? how do you know that? how do you know the generation code, and everything behind the game?

Seriously, this is in no way shape or form critical to the game itself, the characters look fine. But yes 'fine' isn't good enough for some, and considering they are randomly generated, just find one that you think is good, go visit other systems and other alliances because that also varies the type of people found.

So, who's "attractive" is what Frontier should go after? people find a whole enormous list of things attractive, which some others might hate, it would be at best impractical to try to please everyone, considering there is a good variety with random generation, just look until you find something you enjoy?

Somebody who's not Farseer with a different wig and skin tone would be a good start.

This...:D :D :D

But now the thread on here about the stained ship interiors makes sense. They used to have sexy crew and look how the ship interiors turned out! :D

Conversely, I'd like to see an additional control in the Holo-Me creator because my holo-me avatars are just too amazingly attractive. [cool]

So we need a button labelled "ugly stick", with a sliding control to gauge the force with which we want to hit our creation with the ugly-stick. ;)

(... bet they still won't rival the game's monsters though. )

Please no. ED:Creche does a great job of gathering together all the space weirdos, we have our quota. We dont need to add any more space pervs to that list as well. Its bad enough already with only one pretty person in the galaxy.
There was a time I was very keen to recruit a Wookie copilot. Itd improve the NPC dialogue for a start.
I was all for my wookie. Right up to the moment someone said "but what about the furries?" And I realised the wookie MUST NEVER HAPPEN. EVER.
So no. Im happy with my ugly uglies. Ive made a number of eulogies to my mingin fallen comrades. If it helps, just RP thats the reason they dont get Remlok, its doing the genepool a solid.

There was a suggestion made that I liked - that we could use the Elite's character creation to "design" our NPCs.

I've spent millions hiring/firing pilots to find something decent looking.

You know that "random" button on the character creation screen?

NPCs just hit that button once and go with it. This is what happens. Some games put effort into making loads of waifus, but ED is not those games. For better and worse.

So, you want hot crew members that you can undress in holo-me... I think you've downloaded the wrong game. Perhaps you thought the space hubs were futuristic prawn hubs?

You are just trying to shame the OP for no reason. There are literally just a few models to select from with a couple of skin tones, hair styles, and age sets layered on. Wanting an actual variety does not equate to prawn.
If you want to get down to it, the crew member does not sit on the bridge, and only appears on the slf through telepresence.

In fact, visiting commanders look however they want to through telepresence on your own bridge. Are they expressions of your own repressed prawn fantasies because they don't look like the 5 or so models in the NPC SLF range? Of course not.

I think we have to let go of the notion that the NPC SLF pilot is an actual person. Like a COVAS, its a quasi-AI . Geez, with only 8 things to say, it's not a very bright AI at that.

The commander should be able to configure the appearance and voice set of the NPC SLF pilot as they see fit. Even if it is supposed to be a real person ( with a horrible moshed rng backstory), their real appearance is irrelevant.

On your own cell phone you'll substitute avatars and names for friends that aren't actually their real photos, or real names. You should be able to do the same for the NPC SLF pilots. Make them a crew of cut throat thugs, botox bimbos, or starfleet squares. Why does it matter to you? Leave the OP alone and crawl back to your 1700's sensibilities.
