I am not asking for spoilers but can you guys tell us if the codex will already be partly populated by stuff we have already done and if so how far does it go back?
for instance i got all the messages from Dav's hope 18 months ago.
i did Ram Tahhs 1st mission 1 month ago.
it would be cool if that kind of stuff was already recorded or do we have to start again?

How much will the Imperial Explorer cost? Y'know, the one with the nacelles, looks a little like a star trek ship, same jumping capability as an Anaconda, and lots and lots of slots to fill with exploration modules?

I could be wrong here but I believe the deal is that we can talk about what we've all seen now (and, for example, I can now mention the asteroid explosion and say that was the thing we all went "WOW" at) but I'm not sure we can ever simply talk about everything we saw, only the things that FD announce and not until after they've announced them.
I'd be very surprised if it didn't cover everything right back to 2.0 or thereabouts. That's when the Commander Log, or whatever it's called, was introduced (the data the game saves on your computer), and external tools like ED Discovery can list virtually everything you've done right back to then.

Thank you for the explicit Beta and release timeline. I appreciate knowing it will be a month before the Beta is over and can plan to log in accordingly once it goes live. I find I have less time to explore Betas than ever recently but this trailer has me longing to get back into Elite to see the changes for myself. As a wannabe part time miner I am excited to see how this plays out. Sometimes we mine in 2-3 CMDR groups sometimes solo so I will enjoy comparing how the new changes affect each type of mining.
