News Beyond - Chapter Four - Beta Announcement

When you take the snapshot of the live game for the beta, will those of us already exploring the galaxy get probes to play with?

I think they said they'll be synthesizeable. And they won't require any trip back to the bubble - they're aware they don't want to force Cmdrs to fly all the way back to pick up probes or a new sensor module.

(They did however seem a bit blind-sided by the question of how non-Horizons players will be able to collect the materials for the probes).

looks really promising.

I wonder if seismic charges can be used as a trap... you know, placing some beforehand, lure your opponent and boom!

Not a bad idea. To take it even further: place them inside or beside stations / capital ships / asteroid bases and boom - space terrorism yea!

OMG i nearly wet myself when that explosion went off. Bring on the beta

really the explosion did it for you? im waiting to see if they finally tell us what is the so called, so mysterious unannounced content. and for the looks of it i dont think that is anything major. i think the best thing at the moment is the graphical changes.

i find weird that Frontier is releasing the content in chucks that will last the whole month of November. i though it was for testing purposes but it makes no sense form a developer standpoint is better to release all the features at once to have enough time to fix it if anything goes bad. But then it Clicked. X4 is releasing on November. that would explain their whole delay with the announcement. they are trying got pull a COD vs BF release warfare. i hope that frontier realizes that people are going to get X4 no matter what, And instead of doing this chunk release they release all at once in the Beta to ensure bug fixes and whatnot.

I'd say they are testing each part in sequence. seems sensible to me it's a very very big update.

CONSPIRACY CONFIRMED!

elkiller - what chunk release? It's a phased beta, focusing on different aspects each week - the update will be released as one, and immediately.

Yeah this is how I read it too. It would be a lot of work for Frontier to segment the update into chunks for separate releases, that would just introduce a lot of potential for bugs and mistakes along the way which would only hamper testing.

Makes perfect sense from a 'we want to tell you about stuff and get feedback on specific changes' POV.

Though it's a bit of a worry that they think we won't be able to figure out the cool new stuff without being told how to ;)
