£5 Kickstarter Ship Decals

Hi, some of you may remember back in the Kickstarter days that Frontier, in an effort to drum up a few more quid put Ship Decals up for sale, here is the description:

+£5 Pick one of the ship decals, at least 10 will be available, they can be used as the decal to access the Founders' World

Well seeing a cheap and easy way to further help back Elite Dangerous, plus intrigued by the idea, I bought 3 to give myself a bit of variety.

So I was wondering what the plan is for these Decals and how are they different from the magnificent Ship Skins we have recently seen released, and how, considering the most expensive Ship Skin is £4, these £5 Decals will justify the increased price.

Cheers

Sharks teeth! :D

Yeah I'm quite interested in seeing the decals.

I think they would make a nice cosmetic addition to the game store. I say that on the proviso, like the paint jobs, that there is good balance of these things we can get by playing the game too.

I'd like to see paint jobs for the rest of the ships and not just Eagle and Sidewinder first...

Decals will overlay the paint jobs, so it'll be interesting how they come up with a UI to place them on your ship etc...

Skins and Decals are two totally different things.

A Skin is a full body paint job, like they have released.

A Decal is an emblem/logo type thing that will be placed on your ship. Think of it like the paintings on the side of the WWII bombers.

Yeah that's what I assumed, however the price point doesnt seem to match.
£3 to paint your entire ship
£5 for a logo.

Maybe they will make Decal Packs, where for £5 you get thematically similar 3 Decals.

Or maybe the decal is neon. ;)

Brodie, I think the point is that it was a kickstarter pledge. Pledge a fiver and as a reward you get a limited edition decal for your ship.

The ship skins are in no way limited editions, and are offered from a different premise, so comparing the proverbial 'apples and pears' is not going to work :)

Maybe mate, I bought mine from the Frontier Store after the Kickstarter finished, but they where available during it so you maybe correct.

We'll probbaly know more closer to release, but I am hoping for a good selection.

Perhaps something like this?

So it's not ridiculous, or even unfair, but the founding backers get a whole planet just for them?!?!?!?

What "Be a founder of the Elite" means is still not clarified, but no, Founders do not get a planet. Anyone with a kickstarter decal can go there.

What he said :)

The Kickstarter ones were to help them hit the goal and were of a limited edition type deal.
