The miracle of reverski

I have been up until a week ago playing with a logitech 3d pro and keyboard. Last week i got the the thrustmaster t1600 stick and this week i got the thrustmaster twcs throttle.

After lots of confusion and some unkind words about thrustmaster software and elite mapping file recognition. I uninstalled all the thrustmaster software and got it set up and working nicely.

So i can finally map every thing i need to without touching the keyboard and did the velcro hack on the throttle to get a center detente so i can fly in reverse.

With the precision and responsivness of the stick and the ability to reverse in combat, i can literally fly rings around any NPC including the incoming enemy PA condas.

Reversing with roll and lateral thrust, i can keep weapons on target and they dont stand a chance of hitting me with anything fixed. I thought it was easy before, this is just ridiculous. :)

Anyway if you guys havent tried this with a hotas that does reverse, its a hoot. The stick is excellent, the throttle makes it a whole different game.

A couple of things which may help:

I use the throttle full range, only really for supercruise. The paddles I use for thrust in combat and fine adjustment in normal space. During combat throttle is planted in the blue zone.

If you want to mod the responses of any axis on your setup try using vJoy. I use this to damp yaw.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean on a couple points here:
  • throttle full range, only really for supercruise
    • SC is only forward right, so I'm assuming you mean that you set your throttle to forward only everywhere with a toggle button switch between forward and reverse and therefore easily keep it in the blue zone that way.
  • paddles I use for thrust in combat and fine adjustment in normal space
    • Do you mean you use the paddles on the back of the throttle for thrust (I assume side to side) instead of the little analogue stick?

The TARGET software is very powerful and pretty simple. There are a couple of idiosyncracies to it that you need to understand, but that's it.

JoystickCurves is a bit of a CPU hog and is less responsive than TARGET, so it's a less optimal solution than the native software.

Sorry for not being clear!

Yes I only really use the hand throttle for Supercruise.

In most normal flight situations, especially combat, I park the throttle in the blue zone and use the paddles behind the throttle ti control forward/reverse thrust.

I have no reverse toggle on the throttle. Reverse thrust overrides throttle instantly.
