Love the Retro Amiga feel!

Tried the forums earlier only to be greeted with a Guru Meditation message.

Keep up the good work on the retro feel, people! :D

wait... what??

guru is on this forum???

I thought I was finally released when my old amiga 1200 broke down just about 5 years ago, although I still have its remains. ( I cant get myself to bury the old rhubarb, him and me have had so much fun times!!)

and I agree, amiga was not only brilliant, but imo way ahead of its time at release. ( I can still hear my die hard pc friend laughing when I told him I bought one, only to leave him with his mouth open when he saw the graphics and the sound it was producing... that moment was just priceless!!)

I remember having to send my Atari away for a 512k to 1Mb ram upgrade because it was soldered to the damn board... £60 plus p&p... fun times

I had both the the Amiga 500 & the STFM (still got them both in fact). I soldered 512 MB of ram directly to the STFM mobo without sockets! Worked first time. Boy, was I pleased with myself. :D

I still have both my A500 and A4000/040 kicking around. I used the A4000 to get on the internet way back when, using AmigaNOS and a dial-up modem.

Amiga 2000 what a beast...

My brother had one - he even had one of those fancy 20 mb SCSI HDDs. I was quite envious at the time, because I only had an A 500 (but at least with a ram extension - it had a mechanical switch I built in myself to turn off the additional 512k because some games couldn't cope with such copious amounts of ram...).

Was thinking of it a lot recently - The DK2s chromatic abberation strongly reminds me of Deluxe Paints HAM mode...

Ah - the memories - sadly I don't have it anymore

Some of my Amiga gear packed ready to move house last year.

Everything is still in working order  Amiga has a Magnum 4mb Ram expansion fitted. I have CD Roms x2, 2 x FDD, about 100 games and sundry other bits and bobs. Sadly have no room anymore to set it up permanently.

Edit: Oops just realised Geraldine's post was for the nostalgia buffs, maybe this should have gone in there instead.

I miss my A1200, I remember getting a 256Mb Hard Disk fitted and when I got it back from the shop it felt like it weighed 10 kilos :D

Hay don't knock the Amiga. Was a brilliant computer system for its time ;)

Who's knocking it ?
After playing Elite on Acorn Electron, Spectrum 48k & Amstrad CPC6128, I bought an Amiga 500 in early '88 especially to play Elite because the polygons were filled on that version ! Moved on to the Amiga A1200 to play Frontier, first with an '030 accelerator & later with an '060/Mediator/Voodoo3.
I still have both machines. :)
