SRV Stuck at a Guardian Site

Greetings,

Being at a Guardian site I hear the "rumble, rumble" as I near the pylon and it raises but can't immediately find it. Let's go to the free camera view and I found it! Oh no! Turning left/right, rock front/back, hit the thrusters and I managed to get free costing a little hull. Synthesis with low value mats easily takes care of this. I previously took out the Sentinel otherwise this could have ended badly.

Still what if I didn't get free? Self destruct? Back in the ship parked nearby FAR FAR away from the bubble without an SRV? As I brought two SRVs not a mission failing issue. Having only one could upset a few players without a near station to get another one.

However, there is another way on the PC.

1. Exit the game.

2. Start the game in ED NON-Horizons. You get the message "UNABLE TO LOAD. Your saved game is on or near a planet, but this computer doesn't support terrain generation. Reset to orbit?"

The options are RECOVER TO ORBIT or CANCEL LOAD.

3. Select RECOVER TO ORBIT. You're now in space near the planet. Note per you purchased the Horizons version you STILL have a planetary vehicle hangar in your modules menu. A NON-Horizons player could not purchase this.

4. Exit the game.

5. Start the game in ED WITH-Horizons.

6. You're still in space near the planet. Fly back to the Guardian site or whatever else you were doing and land. Your SRV will be in your hangar ready to deploy.

Issues

1. Exiting the game resets any progress you made at the current site you are working. Great for picking up modules at a remote site or resetting the Guardian site to get more blueprints if you know what you are doing. If not work the system to figure out what to do.

2. Probably PC only as I didn't test my PS4 Pro CMDR. Given property legal issues with Sony and Microsoft I don't think that the PS4 or Xbox has an option for a Non-Horizons load much less access to a Beta moment. Maybe take two SRVs.

3. I did not test with a damaged SRV so do not know if the damage remains.

4. With every major update what worked before doesn't always work again. Per this complex game expect bugs with an update. They always show up even after the Beta is closed. Welcome to the ever changing world of Elite Dangerous!

I tested this with my engineered 600 boost Cobra Mk III. I love a break flying this missile but too much too long and I have problems remembering how to dock a Cutter!

Anyway I hope this info helps those looking for an answer stuck in an SRV. I searched for a solution on the Internet many might be looking for but not finding one so I came up with this test. It is not about my moment but having the info per what you can do in your moment. You decide.

Regards

That's a magnificent piece of heroically bad driving.

Congratulations and rep.
I agree!

I've got stuck a few times in an SRV (though not like that, that's special) but I've usually managed to get free with random jiggling and jumping...

... I guess it's another argument for synthasisable SRVs. As you say it can spoil a long trip if you lose the only SRV you have with you ... anyways there's bigger and beta things to concern ourselves with.

If you absolutely can’t get out, log out and login again through base game (non Horizons). You will be all tidy back in your ship. Then once out and in again.

Theres some asteroid bases quite close to the Guardian sites, so it's not a super massive deal.

Actually they are a little farther away of course in my opinion. I have been to a few but being low class ratings per what they offer one could still purchase an SRV.

Had the same issue at the same site (looks quite familiar to me), and i just quit the game and startet with horizons just in another group. Worked well, the game spit me out at the site unstuck and just a little bit aside from the point i quit.

But i can confirm- really a pain in the . Especially when you’re getting attacked by one of the drones...

I somehow got wedged at 45% between the ground and one of the building/container thingys at Dav's Hope recently. Attempting to thrust away just seemed to push my front wheel further under the thingy

Easy to do. Srv need to be printable.
Could you have logged out to main menu and logged in again and the pillar would be reset so you can quickly drive off?
By the way the non horizons trick used to work on box but I don't think it gives a choice anymore.

If you relog at a Guardian site, you respawn outside the site.

I had a cunning plan to park next to an Obelisk then respawn and scan till I had all the data I needed. Nope. Respawned outside the site and had to drive back to the Obelisk every time.

So the pylon skewered you as it rose from the ground? That must be a 1 in a million chance ! +1 for the photo.

If you liked that, you're gonna love this...

*EDIT*

For context, spotted a nice, flat area to land on (at the side of one of the "ampitheatre" sites), deployed my SRV, heard the rumbling of a pylon emerging but couldn't see it, spent an hour or so scanning obelisks for Ram Tah, came back to my ship and found I'd been wheel-clamped.

At Ancient Ruins it is fun to land where the relic towers come up - they look good as they skewer your ship ;) Though they just make takeoff a bit clunky, they don't actually trap you.

Need to dig up a pic when I power up for the beta download later :D

This:- ^^^^

Log out
Log into Basic non-Horizon's ED
Select 'Recover to Orbit' option
Log Out
Log back into ED-Horizons... You'll be in your ship with your SRV intact.

Pretty sure everyone knows how to unstuck an SRV without splosions. Thanks anyway, I guess, maybe useful for the new folks? Maybe move to newbie discussions?
