Greetings,
Being at a Guardian site I hear the "rumble, rumble" as I near the pylon and it raises but can't immediately find it. Let's go to the free camera view and I found it! Oh no! Turning left/right, rock front/back, hit the thrusters and I managed to get free costing a little hull. Synthesis with low value mats easily takes care of this. I previously took out the Sentinel otherwise this could have ended badly.
Still what if I didn't get free? Self destruct? Back in the ship parked nearby FAR FAR away from the bubble without an SRV? As I brought two SRVs not a mission failing issue. Having only one could upset a few players without a near station to get another one.
However, there is another way on the PC.

1. Exit the game.
2. Start the game in ED NON-Horizons. You get the message "UNABLE TO LOAD. Your saved game is on or near a planet, but this computer doesn't support terrain generation. Reset to orbit?"
The options are RECOVER TO ORBIT or CANCEL LOAD.
3. Select RECOVER TO ORBIT. You're now in space near the planet. Note per you purchased the Horizons version you STILL have a planetary vehicle hangar in your modules menu. A NON-Horizons player could not purchase this.
4. Exit the game.
5. Start the game in ED WITH-Horizons.
6. You're still in space near the planet. Fly back to the Guardian site or whatever else you were doing and land. Your SRV will be in your hangar ready to deploy.

Issues
1. Exiting the game resets any progress you made at the current site you are working. Great for picking up modules at a remote site or resetting the Guardian site to get more blueprints if you know what you are doing. If not work the system to figure out what to do.
2. Probably PC only as I didn't test my PS4 Pro CMDR. Given property legal issues with Sony and Microsoft I don't think that the PS4 or Xbox has an option for a Non-Horizons load much less access to a Beta moment. Maybe take two SRVs.
3. I did not test with a damaged SRV so do not know if the damage remains.
4. With every major update what worked before doesn't always work again. Per this complex game expect bugs with an update. They always show up even after the Beta is closed. Welcome to the ever changing world of Elite Dangerous!
I tested this with my engineered 600 boost Cobra Mk III. I love a break flying this missile but too much too long and I have problems remembering how to dock a Cutter!
Anyway I hope this info helps those looking for an answer stuck in an SRV. I searched for a solution on the Internet many might be looking for but not finding one so I came up with this test. It is not about my moment but having the info per what you can do in your moment. You decide.
Regards
