Just wondering if black holes will be introduced to the game and if so, is it possible to name one after my ex girlfriend.

If you look hard enough in the galaxy map, you can find systems with black holes in them. None in the playable area as far as I know, but they wouldn't let the system place black holes on the galaxy map if they had no intention of including them.
There's one at 36LY away from the player area. It's a 4 star system with 1 black hole. There's a screenshot somewhere on the forums. Sorry can't remember where I saw it, it was somewhere last week.

...even if she does crush the life out of anyone who gets close![]()
the in game galaxy is modelled after the real thing so yes there will be black holes in it, as for naming one after your ex i think i can safely say that one is going to be a 'NO' even if she does crush the life out of anyone who gets close![]()

I feel like there's a new thread every day asking if black holes will be in game.. Use the search bar before asking! And as cool as a black hole sounds, would you REALLY want them in the game? You're flying towards a planet loaded up with a million credits worth of goods, all the sudden your screens/equipment start to malfunction and your ship starts to pull Ina direction you're not flying. You panic you have no idea what's going on, the pull is stronger now, you try to go into sc or hyperspace but your Mass locked! Oh no! Then faster and faster until you're sucked into the dark abyss and it's back to square one..

perhaps you could just keep moving.
Just a suggestion...*waves hand*

LOL, nice work guys
But yes, there will be black holes in the game that I believe you can visit and check out (probably from quite far back!). Haven't seen any graphical representation yet. I don't believe you can name anything and even if you could, it would first go through a vetting process at FD

A star system wouldn't have a black hole in it or a black hole can't have any object that is not a star some LY away.
Huh? A Blackhole is just a very massive object, nothing special about it in that regard, no reason that I am aware of that it couldn't have orbiting objects.
Black holes stretch space and time with their massive gravitational pull. A black hole is formed after a star inflating in a red giant running out of fuel and starting to burn heavy elements (destroying close orbiting objects) then collpasing into a supernova at wich state it implodes releasing a massive shockwave that pulverizes everything in the system (planets included) and beyond emitting gasses for LY distances sometimes as wide as entire galaxyes. Then collpasing in a single small point (so not turning into a neutron star or a pulsar because it's massive enough) the mass increases the gravitational pull litterally eating all the matter and the gasses around further increasing the mass of the black hole and it's gravitatinal pull to the infinite as long as it eats matter eating everything around and influencing the gravity and the stars revolutions LY around it. It also reaches the point where the gravitatinal pull breaks the common physics laws and not even light can escape it's gravitational pull because it just doesn't travel fast enough OR (as some theorists say) the space/time is stretched at the infinite point so nothing, not even light, run for an infinite amount of time could pass the event horizon and get rid of the gravitational pull of a black hole. SO no light= black hole.
Quasars are Black holes just observed from a different perpective and they are bright because what you see isn't the black hole but the radiations and the super heated gasses emitted following the magnetic field around a black hole after It ate matter including the elusive hawking radiation (wich is just theory for now)
There are plenty of candidates for black hole/star binary systems. The event horizon of a black hole isn't believed to be that large, even the supermassive one believed to be at the centre of the milky way is estimated to be no larger than 17light hours in diameter, most likely smaller. Theoretically anything can orbit it outside of this boundary unless I'm mistaken.
