Asp X's drop into CZs and RES sites frequently so I'd not be to sure on that just yet with the Phantom. Krait MKII is a capable explorer and multi so I hole the Phantom retains or enhances those traits.

Combat ships are the most wanted so it seems, and very easy to please folk with - bigger guns, tanked hulls, bigger shields - combat paradise 
As the 'exploring' community has a massive variance on what makes an explorer (I mainly explore so my ideas are in that heap too) FDev would have to release a dozen or so explorer builds and none of them would be right!
I'd be happy to be thrown a couple of 'viable' multipurpose ships but have the feeling that " 'proper' explorers are expected to die in space in their 'gorgeous' Annie's" would be the Dev's retort...

Im gonna say more than 2. We got a few new features thrown into the last streams which no one was expecting (like the orrery for example) and Fdev seem to be on a SURPRISE roll with some stuff (night vision example)..
Didnt someone find out that a size 8 FSD was on the cards this update... so big ship maybe?
Size 8 FSD's are listed on Inara too... Along with size 8 fuel tanks...
Its not like they gave us a concrete number of features they were going to falk about before those streams though.
2 ships is good. More is obviously better.

I do have to say I think a mining and an exploration ship are about due.
That being said with the changes to the passenger ships make them more adaptable for exploration. The Beluga needs a size 7 internal still.
The T-10 is a great mining ship though.

mmm... yes 57LY with FSD engineered with mass manager and 5H FSD guardian booster. Not enough modules to fit ripair limpets though...
The best exploration ship would be a Python with an improved panoramic cockpit and a 6A FSD.
I don't think the Phantom will be an exploration ship... Mainly because of its name "Phantom"... it makes me think it's a good ship at hiding and attack without being seen. I have no memories of explorers phantoms
So my bet is that both new ships will be for combat... again...
Besides the Mamba what is the other ship they are releasing in Q4 or is it still a mystery?

Imagine if they said "Tune to see the FIVE new ships!" This forum would go into happy meltdown with speculation galore (it was before today).
Now THAT would get me watching the stream for sure. Now? Not so sure.
Netflix vs Livestream for Krait variant and another combat ship. Hmmm. That choice might be easier then it looks for me.
I've heard about the Class 8 FSD but today's news has killed any hopes I've had.
I'm expecting them to update a lot of the older ships, and maybe reveal some new modules. At least I hope so
Yeah. Combat modules. [blah] Lets see if we get more useful stuff to benefit all players, like Limpet and Scanner Arrays.

No but Fdev im sure categorically said no Orrery any time soon. Even recal an OA video saying that its not likely to ever happen. (maybe another mandela memory).
Im just betting that there is a 3rd ship..... no hype, just my bet.

Watching the live stream or not isnt a big deal. people can watch it afterwards if the news got out that a 3rd ship was revealed.
