Alien archaeology and other mysteries: Breaking News, Theories and Tinfoil Hattery

Beta Codex spoiler

Halesy visions is in the Human Guardian contact section

Suggesting it was the Guardians (or their AI constructs) she saw/communed with

So... I read that just now... I can't help but feel it's somewhat retcon.

Yeah, I mean I've been saying for a long long time about the match between the descriptions of what Halsey encountered and an extrapolation of the Guardian descendants (Exiles/AI/Exile-AI hybrids), but it does all read a bit wrong in the Codex.

On the other hand, we do know that FD had something planned for how we would find the Guardians ruins, but that was scuppered when xDeath worked out the location of the ruins in the trailer. Perhaps the Codex entry has been written as how it was intended to happen as opposed to how it actually did.

Discrepansy in the Beta Codex a.k.a "I do not get it":

War between Guardians and Thargoids was tens of thousands (or few thousand on the other entry) years ago, yet Guardians are extinct for millions of years? Or somebody mixed millenium with million?

Here you go:

The Tens of Thousand of years ago is relative to the Guardians Technological Era, and is describing the Thargoid seeding which took place before the Guardians became space-faring. The 'Thousands of years later' part is then the time between the Thargoids departing that area of space, and returning, at which point they then encountered the Guardians who by then had developed interstellar travel and expanded into the area the Thargoids had seeded.

Take a read of the Colonia codex entry... it's as if Jacques being loaded up with Unknown Artefacts never happened, including the visions he had which were highly comparable to halseys.

Well it might have been Guardians or the Constructs that rescued them from Witch Space even if it was the UAs that triggered the mishap

That is an interesting point
Perhaps Halseys visions were going to be the clues that were never needed

Yeah, and it does stack up, but for me it just seems a bit wrong when reading it as I can't help but go 'Hold on, what? That's not what happened.'.

The trailers that lead to the discovery of the Guardian ruins were Dream.ware Sims created by some dreamware company based on the recordings of Halsey talking of her visions, thinking it would make a good sci fi adventure
Little did they know the locations depicted actually were real locations in the galaxy

I wanted to throw this out there for everyone who is investigating, or at least interested in, the secret organization known only as "The Club". Today Drew Wagar confirmed that each of the members of "The Club" referred to in his novel Premonition as Infrastructure, Finance, Exo, Personnel, and Society have been referred to by their real names in Galnet at various times.

This may narrow the possibilities somewhat.

Hmm, that's interesting given that Premonition says "Some of their faces would have been recognisable to many in the galaxy with others being completely unknown." Thanks for posting it!

Also, while I was double checking the quote, found a bit I'd forgotten about another two different characters who are discussing the shadier parts of the Sirius takeover of Metadrive. Anyone any thoughts on who they might be? (starts on p188 in my version).

Not p188 in my ecopy. Can’t see anything re metadrive. Can you give me a quote to search for?

’Interstellar Trade Franchise’ should get you to the right page. Or ‘Sirius is bright this evening’ for the start of their conversation. They don’t actually name Metadrive, but that’s what they’re talking about.

Ah, page 182. Don’t have a clue as to their identities, but suspect either two more members of the club, or perhaps members of one of the Dark Wheels; wheels within wheels....
doesn’t make sense for them to be metadrive board/employees with that phrasing.

Given that GALNET is text only, most people who are named in GALNET articles don't have faces that would be publicly recognizable, at least to us as CMDR's. For that matter the only people whose faces are readily recognizable to us are the powerplay faction leaders. This could imply that at least a couple Club leaders are found within their ranks.

Wild stretch: The Club are descendants of CIEP Elders, constantly producing wars so humanity is prepared for battles with Thargoids?

From analysis of Premonition I derived the following Club membership list:
Infrastructure, male, the 'leader', technology (Li Yong-Rui)
Finance, female (Ana Quin, Sirius' Junior Vice President of Interstellar Logistics, or Patricia Spell VP of Sirius Finance)
Exo, male, thin & gaunt, exploration & non-core worlds (?)
Personnel, female, small & fierce (Felicia Winters, Fed Shadow President. Came to power rapidly through Halsey & Smeaton incidents)
Society, male, superficially jovial, steely glint, huge frame (not Patron Gerrun! ?)

From Premonition-Epsilon Eridani:“At just over ten light years from Sol, most of its visitors were of a Federal inclination”. If I’m correct in that Personnel was Felicia Winters then it would make sense for the two unknowns on the surface to be some of her staff who were also Club/Dark Wheel members. Elsewhere the book says that Zachary Hudson (Fed President) is being directly manipulated by the Group, so there would need to be Club/Dark Wheel staff in place to exert that manipulation.

Interesting! Good find

Although I don't know if their is any galnet database we can search through, if not then we can't use that info....... even if we knew who to search for!

Wicked! :), does it have every single article? [edit] Nope, it's nearly 4 mths behind.
If it does, then it 'just' leaves the question of who to search for ;).
