After we saw all the live streams showing us the last chapter of Y2018 (unfortunately with most of the reviews being disappointments ... but hey ... we get it for free!), is it now time to focus on the roadmap for Y2019? A lot of expectations for next year! Hope FDev will finally show us something that we really want to see (not just blowing up asteroids or taking photos of distant planets).

What "mostly" bad reviews? The big change in positivity had the naysaying trolls ducking for cover for at least two weeks here and on yt comments. ED is also above NMS on steamcharts again. I think the first hints for 2019 will be after 3.3 officially releases as they mentioned earlier, so perhaps during the last weeks of the year.
"We" are people who believe that this game has the potential to be the leader of space simulation games on PC and PS4, smashing competitors like EVE, SC, X4, etc.
This is certainly one of the best patches we've had, in no small part because it's what we've been asking for for years; to fill out some of the mechanics. Sure, there is a bit of a misstep with the mining side of things, but it shouldn't be too hard to address, we have to kick up a stink about it or it gets locked in until god knows when.
I do hope we get to hear about whats next pretty soon.

Not time yet - they need to ship this Q4 update (soon!) - maybe then, in the warm afterglow of a successful launch.

I think Elite has a tremendous potential as a space GAME.
As a Simulation though, it's not even close.
You want Simulation, try Take on Mars.
EVE is trash. SC is never leaving Alpha, X4... Never played X, X2, or X3, but it doesn't actually look all that interesting.

Everywhere I've looked - and that is a lot of forums, reddits, discords, YouTube comments and Twitch chat - the vast majority of reviews have been very positive.
News about the next era will come early next year, hopefully end-Jan/early-Feb.

Exactly this, although I'm less optimistic & will just say sometime after 3.3 has launched.

I can see 2019 being more about "obligations" than any real desire to evolve the game.
They know that they promised paid-content this year and failed to deliver it and they know LEPers are getting upset.
I can see the next paid-content being something a bit abstract and optional - my guess would be a bunch of "EVE-lite" toys which'll tie-in with Squadrons.
Next stop 2020. Ding ding. Minotaurs!

i played EVE for 6 years - ED is not a competitor to EVE, its an evolution surpassing EVE.
