General / Off-Topic Best sweeties when you were a kid (or now what ever floats ya boat)

I eat everything. Hershey Bars with almonds or Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are my go to mainly. I'm a firm believer that you only live once and you dont want to miss out.

Some people treat their body like a temple. I treat mine like a amusement park.

Its all about moderation with sweets or junk food with a otherwise balanced diet.

So Tj has started the never ending ‘is it a biscuit or cake’ Thread about Jaffa biscuits (guess my answer) which got me thinking of Viscount Mint biscuits (my all time fav) which got me thinking about my Nan, which got me thinking of calling round to see her as a kid and getting to visit the sweet drawer. My favourites were always

ORANGE CHEWITS.

second would be wham bars.
third would be a good olde sherbet dip.
Off of the top of my head, it has to be Black-Jacks. 4 for a penny Liquorice chewy things.

I am always surprised about what other people remember about their childhoods.
I could not answer questions like this if my life depended on it.
from the age of six; my Step-dad was an ice cream man. Had a lots of vans, at one time. So, as you can imagine, the whole 'sweet thing' got a bit sickening after a few years.

When you were a kid you were in the paradise, if we can say like that.

:)

My earliest memory is around a year to a year and a half. I know this because I remember being in reins and the cats I remember got put down just before I was 18 months. Got quite a few memories of that time. Ask me what I was doing last week? Pffft not a clue....

When you are up to your elbows in an ice cream machine, that hasen't been cleaned in years and was just left to rot, the last time it was used. The appeal kind of wares off.

I did have lots of mates at school though.

The paradise for the friends , then.

My dad used to bring back a walnut whip for each of us kids when he got back from work.
I guess we remember things that made an impact on us!
As others have posted, the sherbet dip was good (except the paper got soggy and didn’t taste nice :)
Moon dust was fun, always thought it was somewhat dangerous!
Came across the Swedish salted liquorice which was an eye opener... if you haven’t tried this, then you must try a mouthful :)

Ahhh I remember going to the local shop with all the jars on the shelved and getting a quarter of something.

Maynards!

Salt liquorice, I just can't get the hang off, but I love Liquorice.

My older step brother; a young Trawler-man at the time, gave his Dad 'moon dust' and he went mental about it. There was lots of swearing and talking about drugs. Really funny at the time.

Lol, that’s funny about the moon dust - I almost wrote that it was like a gateway drug :)

Local biscuit manufacturer used to make a "Chocolate Dessert Biscuit". I'd cram an entire one in my mouth and chew it to mush before swallowing it.

Tomoe Ame rice candy with edible "plastic" wrapper and mystery toy!

Reminds me of the (The name might be offensive to some.)
Black Sambo's
that were also 4 for a penny (1d or £0.00417 in new money) on the penny tray.

My favourite sweet was mint imperials.
Here are a couple of "temptations" for you:

Same things probably. Yes I was talking 240 pennies to the pound. Just didn't want to feel; that old.
