Morning everyone! First of all I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to EVERYONE who turned up in-game yesterday and made it such a fantastic event!
I was in and out of the game throughout the day (between 5am and 10pm anyway) and there were always commanders to be found - ships larking around or just quietly parked on the top plateau, commanders base-jumping off of it, SRV's revving their engines at the start co-ordinates in front of it as they made last minute checks, and numerous tiny pinpoints of light crawling their way inexorably up it with their airborne support teams leading the way.
I want to give a special shout-out to commanders like andrego and PKSeven below (and MANY others like them - apologies for not having all your names to hand). There were plenty of people who have hundreds of hours logged in the SRV, who'd practiced the run numerous times, knew their preferred route and were submitting sub-40 minute times. Respect of course to these people who's driving skills are a thing to behold, but for many of the people there yesterday it was not about how fast but about how far. That climb was HARD and to the people who spent literally hours bravely toiling their way up those slopes, sometimes with company, often alone - I salute every single one of you!
o7
In fact, by way of thanks to you all, I raise a 32 gun salute to every single damn person who gave it their best on that mountain yesterday!

In due course the winners will be announced (this is slightly out of my hands as the race submissions didn't go to me) and hopefully I'll be able to publish a complete scoreboard of all the runs submitted.
Also - apologies to anyone who felt left out or excluded yesterday. I know there were times when people turned up to find the mountain empty. This was something I really tried to avoid but I guess, with instancing and timezones and such, it was probably somewhat unavaoidable. Sorry if you messaged me in game and I didn't respond. I tried to give everyone an o7 at the very least but there were occasions when I was busy clinging to my own 70° slopes and couldn't really take my hands off the controls.
And finally, thanks to all the streamers and everyone who made a donation to the charity yesterday (and by the way, last I heard the Truckers had made it to the cabin on the volcano and will have hiked the final stretch this morning to witness a very well earned and hopefully majestic sunrise). Thanks to your generosity the donations currently stand at £9,249.42.
Yes, that's right ... £9,249.42 of a £10,000 target!
So yup, I'm going to be that person (imagine Geldof pounding his fist on a table if you will).
Come on people - we can't let that figure get sooooo close and not tip it over the £10k!
Please please please, if you had fun yesterday (or even if you couldn't make it but have enjoyed reading about it), make a tiny contribution and remind those guys at the top of that volcano what an awesome community this is.
