Stan Lee station

I am a bit tired of tribute and dedication requests to be perfectly honest.
I too know a gazillion dead people who should get mentioned in a game... people who were of greater importance than a comic creator.

No one is asking for your permission. Plz go and skulk back to insignificance.

Oh Wow - what an amazingly constructive response exhibiting scholarly analysis and disputation of a person's musings.

Or was it just rude insulting nonsense that exhibits a megalomaniacal arrogance that dismisses the freedom of a person to hold different world-views?

Hello,

So as we all know recently we lost a great person, Stan Lee

I think it would be necessary if we had a station dedicated to Stan Lee, called "Stan Lee" station or maybe a megaship to dedicate to his many years or comic joy he has bought to our lives. If that is not possible maybe we can have some sort of different memorial.
I very much hope this is possible and that even in-game we can embrace in our comic book hero.

With all thanks,
Cmdr Jabana

I can totally understand naming assets ingame after important persons of specific scientific and astronomic origin.
But Stan Lee? Don't get me wrong, great stuff he has made. But he wasn't an astro physic or similar or a Nobel price. So i can't see any relation to Elite Dangerous here ^^

Dunno, Para. Why not ask him?

On that basis, we should have something dedicated to people like ... Donald Trump ...
Yes please. There's this thing about tributes ...

I'd like a special tribute to Trump. There should be a station called the "Riverside Boulevard", and when you get close to the docking slot you should be able to see that there are dark patches on the side of the station where the sun hasn't bleached the paint as much. It was obvious there were once letters on the side of the station that spelled "TRUMP" <grin>

Greetings,

Where is Leonard Nimoy "Spock" who died in Feb 2015? Where is James Doohan "Scotty" who died in 2005? Where is Deforest Kelley "Bones" who died in 1999? The answer is this game is not a funeral tribute to actors who inspired us per a TV series. Nor is the great Stan Lee who died in Nov 2018 any more or less important.

What many miss is that the concept of the Elite Dangerous game is a tribute to all of them. Without actors and more importantly great writers such as D.C. Fontana. Here is a woman back in the '60s in Hollywood where men writers ruled couldn't get hired using her full name as Dorothy Catherine Fontana and still made a difference in our lives with great writing. If anyone needs a planet named after her it is D.C. Fontana. Her writing inspired us while making a few actors famous.

The point is we are where we are in Elite Dangerous because of great writing, some guys called Bell and Braben, a few Star Trek movies plus a few Star Wars and inspiring us to come up with the best space game ever invented. Enjoy the moment even with these young kids FD programmers who never saw the movie "The Last Starfighter" C1984 knowing that Amiga computers did all the CGI.

We don't need tributes. They are already ingrained into the sole of what Elite Dangerous is all about. When I fly in the game I think of all the great writers that got us here and I didn't mention the great sci-fi book writers.

Any new players read anything by Isaac Asimov, Robert Henlein, Arthur C Clarke, Douglas Adams, Ray Bradbury? They are all in this game if you look close enough.

Regards
