Finally found a home

Sometimes I wish I could play in VR.

After 1000 hours, Artemis Lodge in Celaeno just blew me away. The station and its environs -- a planetary ring in the Pleiades -- are absolutely beautiful. The outfitting sucks, there's only two ships for sale in the shipyard, but I don't care.

I'm home.

Yeah, now that we have ship and module transfer, shipyard and outfitting don't really matter and we can choose our homes freely. And stations in pleiades tend to have a nice view. :)

Pleiades is beautiful for all sorts of reasons, and if Artemis Lodge is the station that's located in the ring system of a gas giant I have to agree. I've yet to try mining right next to it for a laugh but I might once the new mining update drops just to try and see a 'roid explode with the station in the background....

Sounds like a plan to me. My exploracargo cutter's already there; I'll be dbx-ing back to Jameson tomorrow to bring down the mining/murder vette. Boom time soon.
Give the Cutter a go mining. Fit 3 medium mining lasers in the two middle mediums and the huge slot. The placement of the 3 weapons is so close together that fragments are very predictable and easy to direct a stream close to the cargo slot.
I use a 3A prospector and 4 5A collectors. It'sonly drawback is stopping, but the shields are strong enough that ramming the occasional roid isn't a problem.

Sweet home !

I'll check that out with my alt account while we wait for 3.3 release. What is this about transferring modules without outfitting? Is this something new?

Yes yes, I’m sorry for the lack of pics; i mostly post on mobile, and pics are a bit of a faff.

I have actually mined in my cutter, but came to prefer the vette. The cutter has good placement and cavernous cargo, but she’s a heavy girl; the maneuverability of the vette wins out for me. Truth be told i should likely just use a python anyway; i unfailingly get itchy britches and head btb before the vette is half full...

That is where I keep my bug hunting Cutter "Planet Express" stationed. Lots of good Thargoid hunting in that system close to the port.

If you like brief mining trips in an efficient mining ship, consider the Fed Dropship.

As long as you don't mind being shieldless, it can fit pretty much the same as a Python, though with less cargo space. example build

Or even smaller - my mining Asp is parked out there now. Plays well with the new mining toys, too. A better navigator than me could make an excellent living, as there are a number of high-yield painite bodies within a couple dozen km of the station. Come to think of it, I suppose when the mining changes go live, the asteroid yields will probably get all scrambled, so we'll have to map out new jackpots anyway.
